Garbage Warrior

Garbage Warrior is a 2007 film about architect Mike      Reynolds, inventor of the Earthship style    of building, directed by Oliver Hodge.    It follows Reynolds’ and how he developed the Earthship style    of building and his struggle with the legislature of Taos, New      Mexico, the location of his experimental Earthship community,    in order to be allowed to build homes that do not match the    structures of local building codes.    The film concludes with a postscript showing Reynolds and his team    of builders travelling to the Andaman      Islands in the aftermath of the Boxing Day      tsunami to assist the locals with disaster recovery and    teaching them how to construct extremely low-cost homes.

  1. Unbelievable what the system has put this genius through. The greedy system feels so threatened by people who may have a better ideaI that has the ability to propel humanity forward. I hope he was able to achieve his test sights so that he could get back to the business of being his innovative self.

  2. Good post Cathleen. This is exactly what I wanted to do when I got my place but I will tell ya what, if you do not have a good amount of money and freinds that are willing to help for free it is something most people are not up for especially when most people have to work a job to pay the bill and to buy supplies………… I had my basic design started but I just burned out real hard working a job for 10 hr.s a day with a 1 1/2 hr travel time to and from work and all………I still want to finish what I started with my project but at my age and physical problems it will never happen without major help and that is just being realistic about it, especially when I ran out of money for this thing I started.
