How Asinine has Our Legal System Become?

ridiculous lawsuitsLast Resistance – by Dave Jolly

America has become a nation of people who are so entrenched in the idea that they are entitled to whatever they want that have lost all common sense.  And what do they do when they don’t get their way?  They scream, holler and file ridiculous lawsuits.  Not only are these lawsuits a waste of taxpayer dollars and court time, some of them are actually won due to liberal judges who also believe in global entitlements.

One example I can think of happened some years back in Arizona.  A family was camping at a lake in central Arizona.  A mountain lion attacked and injured their son so the parents filed a lawsuit against the Arizona Game and Fish Department for failure to control their wildlife.  Fortunately, the judge threw the case out of court.

Another case from back in AZ however, was not thrown out of court, but should have been.  I worked at a major utility and was part of the ground crew that built an electrical substation.  The substation had twelve foot high block walls capped with rolls of razor ribbon.  There were signs posted on every outside wall warning of the dangers of high voltage electricity.  But that didn’t stop two kids, about 12 years of age, from putting ladders up against the wall, placing something over the sharp razor ribbon to protect them and climbing into the substation where one of the boys was electrocuted and killed.  The parents sued the utility claiming they didn’t take proper measures to protect the public from the dangers of the substation and the liberal judge awarded them $25 million, stating the utility needed to place more warning signs on the outside.

You can all probably list ridiculous lawsuits, but here is a list of the top ten for 2013 compiled by Faces of Lawsuit Abuse:

  1. Inmates’ suit blames a life of crime on beer companies.
  2. Ohio teacher claims fear of children in suit against district.
  3. Student kicked off school track team for absences, Dad sues county for $40 million.
  4. Woman suing over “severe and permanent injuries” still able to complete half-marathon.
  5. Lawsuit claims “footlong” sandwiches come up short.
  6. Grown man sues parents for their “indifference” to his problems.
  7. Customer sues restaurant over hostess’ rude comment.
  8. Grad student who received free tuition sues school over grade.
  9. Two years to toss suit from robber who sued shop owner.
  10. Man sues Apple for his porn addiction.

Lisa A. Rickard, President of the US Chamber Institute for Legal Reform commented:

“Whether cringe-worthy or laugh-out-loud ridiculous, ask yourself: ‘Is this really what we want our legal system to look like?’  Abusive lawsuits both big and small take a collective toll on our society and our economy. We should resolve to make 2014 a year where lawsuits are a last resort, not a first reaction.”

I think Rickard’s suggestion about lawsuits being a last resort should apply to all of the atheists and gays who keep suing Christians and governments over the so-called Establishment Claus that only exists in a letter from Thomas Jefferson and even then it’s been taken out of context.  Lawsuits like the one to remove the World War 1 Memorial Cross in the Mojave desert or the one about to be filed by the ACLU to prevent the Los Angeles County supervisors from adding the cross to the top of the San Gabriel Mission depicted on the county seal only to make the image accurate and has nothing to do with religion.

If you know of a ridiculous lawsuit not mentioned above, please share it with the rest of us.  I’m sure many of us would enjoy reading about them.

  1. You have to consider the real source of these frivolous lawsuits. The plaintiff may feel injured, and may see it as his only chance to ever have some money in his hand, but NONE of them make it to court without the help and encouragement of an ambulance-chasing Jew, whose only goal is to use the legal system to squeeze a living out of anyone he can.

IN most cases the plaintiff has worked all his life and has nothing to show for it, so the prospect of having a million bucks dropped in his lap is hard to ignore, but he wouldn’t be in court, and you’d never hear about these lawsuits unless a lawyer took the case.

I’m willing to bet that ALL of the lawsuits mentioned in the article were filed on a contingency basis, meaning the plaintiff didn’t have to shell out any money, but instead gives a portion of any proceeds to the lawyer.

The average American is poor, and uneducated. The lawyer should know better, and the courts are their domain. Don’t blame the plaintiff.

    1. Jolly you forgot to mention who profits from these frivolous lawsuits. The Lawyers and in most cases are Jews.

  2. I’ve always thought that we should convert to a system something like the Dutch have; wherein, all lawsuits are reviewed for merit pre-filing – and if the complainant fails that review, they can still proceed but must do so totally at their own expense (sometimes even posting possible damages to their named Defendant(s) – then, the suits are tried with a Win-Lose provision – something akin to “there IS gonna be a winner, AND a loser” – not like here – where (for the most part) only the Plaintiff can win, the named Defendant(s) must cross-complain if he/she/they want(s) to even recover their costs, muchless win anything, damages, etc.

and yes, to all the liberals out there – it does make it very hard for the “have nothing don’t work crowd” to sue for their spilled hot coffee
