Kentucky police department gets threat ‘more to come’ after officer killed in ambush

A small-town Kentucky police department mourning the ambush slaying of one of its men has received threats that more officers will be targeted, prompting an investigation by the FBI and state police, the police chief said Tuesday.

The department received a written threat last week that “there are more to come,” a reference to the nighttime ambush slaying of Bardstown Officer Jason Ellis, 33, last month while the K-9 officer was headed home from work, said Chief Rick McCubbin.

“We don’t even know if any of the threats are credible, but obviously we’re going to treat them as if they are credible,” McCubbin said, adding that police would continue operating as usual, while taking extra precautions, in Bardstown, a town of 12,000 about 40 miles southeast of Louisville.

Officers are responding to calls in teams of at least two, he said, but their routines haven’t been changed in light of the slaying and the threats.

“Our patrol officers are still out covering beats and making those runs,” he said. “We are not going to do our job in fear. We’re not going to retreat in any way.”

Ellis was hit with multiple shotgun blasts on May 25 after he got out of his cruiser to pick up tree limbs strewn on a highway exit ramp in Nelson County. Authorities said they think someone purposely placed the limbs on the ramp in order to get him to stop.

Ellis was described as one of Bardstown’s top officers when it came to arrests, with his bosses saying he had made a dent in the town’s drug problems during his seven years with the police department.

McCubbin has said he thinks Ellis was targeted, but that the written threat didn’t single out anyone in particular. The note was turned over to Kentucky State Police and the FBI, the chief said. Mary Trotman, an FBI spokeswoman in Louisville, confirmed the federal agency is investigating but wouldn’t comment on specifics of the case.

A day after the written threat, McCubbin took a phone call from someone claiming to be aware of a verbal threat someone made against Bardstown police. The threat was similar, that more officers would be killed, the chief said. The matter was turned over to state police, he said.

Meanwhile, state police are still reviewing leads and interviewing people in the search for Ellis’ killer, KSP Master Trooper Norman Chaffins said Tuesday. Reward money leading to the killer’s arrest and conviction has surpassed $150,000, with donations from businesspeople, local governments, residents and others.

“Unfortunately, we’ve not received that one tip yet” that would lead to a suspect, Chaffins said.

  1. Does anyone else smell a possible false-flag event here? The first cop shooting may or may not have been authentic, but this written threat sounds a bit suspicious to me. If someone were out to kill more of these cops you’d see bodies; not stationery. No one doing this would be stupid enough to give them a fistful of clues.

They may be just looking to milk what they can from the first cop shooting, or they may have killed him and may kill others to launch another city “lock down” spectacle, complete with unwarranted searches, and paid actors cheering them on.

    1. Yeah, sounds like some fantastic snot from (Insert your psy-op cop drama of choice here), with all the trimmings of some CSI meets Hawaii Five-0 meets Criminal Minds crap mixed in a bowl of mental diarrhea.

    2. I would call it an obvious false flag operation. The first clue is the lack of any clear motive. I doubt they will solve this one, since they put the primary suspect (FBI) in charge of the investigation.

Unfortunately, the general public will once again end up suffering the consequence.

  2. WHY ???

    WHAT PROVOKED THESE ACTS???

WHERE IS THE REST OF THE STORY????

EITHER THERE IS A STRONG REASON
    FOR PEOPLE TO LASH OUT…..
    OR…..
    ITS MORE PROPAGANDA.

    In my opinion.

  3. Let’s see. If I wrote a note and sent it in, I would be caught in an instant with all of the video surveillance and monitoring, handwriting analysis and so on, but for some reason the stupid Kentucky cops can’t find the person or people who did this. Yea, right. Tell me another one.

This has the smell of inside job all over it and that chief of police, as we all saw in the video on the day that the cop was murdered, is the number one suspect on my list, as he didn’t seem to give a rats ass about the cop or felt the need to get the investigation going. So if anyone had anything to do with it, I’d follow that slimeball. If I was the cop’s family, I deck him the face.

Other than that, in general, I feel this is the start of the government trying to initiate war between the police and the people under false flag pretenses. I expect to see more of these as the foreign government Zionist/Communist insurgents have to get moving on their civil unrest plan in this country if they are going to start WWIII this summer.

    1. And if this was LA, there would be a nationwide manhunt for the person or people who did this for a whole week on MSM and a nice patsy or group of patsies setup for them because no one in this country can murder a cop and get away with it, without it being on the news 24/7 until they are found. Where are the drones? Where are the helicopters? Where is Big Brother? Why are they letting a crisis go to waste? It makes no sense.

      1. Well NC, it is an advantage to living in one of the “flyover” states. We’re just on the edge of their concern.

  4. You folks are doing great, now, do some investigative reporting & start EXPOSING on your own!!!! Liberty & Freedom are within your reach, just reach out & grab……

  5. If I were the least liked (by the other cops) in that department, I think I’d be losing sleep at night.

  6. Could it be this PD is so corrupt that elements of the populace have said ‘enough’? I see a general, broad based revolt coming across America, hence ‘Prisim’.
