Since the end of World War II, when the United States dropped the A-bomb on Hiroshima, Japan; and the advent of the Cold War
between the world’s greatest powers, the USA and USSR, the threat of nuclear destruction has never seemed far away.

In the forty years the Cold War raged, both sides compiled massive arsenals of weapons, including atom bombs and guided missiles, as well as the methodology to deliver them. Although in recent times attempts have been made to slow or even stop nuclear proliferation, countries such as North Korea, China and Pakistan have continued to develop and test their own missiles. As a result, there are still enough weapons out there to render our planet uninhabitable. A frightening thought, indeed!
