Even as critics in Congress are blasting Obama’s upcoming new gun control executive orders as “dangerous overreach” targeting the 2nd Amendment, Obama has defended them, claiming his plans are “well within my legal authority”.
Obama, via Reuters:
“The good news is .. these are not only recommendations that are well within my legal authority and the executive branch, but they’re also ones that the overwhelming majority of the American people, including gun owners, support,” Obama said during a meeting with Attorney General Loretta Lynch and other advisers.
The new gun control measures are likely to be announced sometime this week. Wonder if another perfectly timed mass shooting will accompany them.
Even though the stock market fell today, stocks in gun manufacturers like Smith & Wesson rose against the news. Pro gun control president Obama is perhaps the best gun salesmen in America, it seems.
Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan released a statement blasting the president:
“While we don’t yet know the details of the plan, the president is at minimum subverting the legislative branch, and potentially overturning its will. His proposals to restrict gun rights were debated by the United States Senate, and they were rejected. No president should be able to reverse legislative failure by executive fiat, not even incrementally. The American people deserve a president who will respect their constitutional rights – all of them. This is a dangerous level of executive overreach, and the country will not stand for it.” (source)
That’s great and all, but Paul Ryan doesn’t even sort of have a backbone, so this statement, while absolutely true, pretty much means zip.
In the meantime, the president will simply continue to chip away at the 2nd Amendment as much as he can before his final year is up, just as he has repeatedly threatened to do.

I agree with your comment John, wholeheartedly. Barry promised to fulfill the change he wished to enact on this country before he leaves his position as ceo of the commie corporation. However, his E.O’s are not lawful and therefore don’t have to be obeyed. This is so difficult to discuss with the average person, because we are an occupied nation, we do not have a government. Not many people understand that, and with the now legal propaganda allowed to be spewed out daily, the ignorant just go along with it.
Barry may increase background checks in this putrid E.O. he will enact, next will be full out bans, timing of this bundy 2.0, in my thinking is possibly in line with the gun grab. Yes, it’s coming alright.

Oh, I just watched The Patriot again yesterday. What a fantastic movie. I hope you’ve had a chance to view it.
I love that movie Deb, documenting divine intervention in my mind. “The Patriot” will re-instill your dedication to make things right.
One of my favorite movies, Millard! AMC has been playing it a lot of late. I have the dvd as well. I’ll watch it over any of the garbage on the teevee. Truly inspirational. :). Make things right is an understatement. It reminds me that “the tree of liberty needs to be refreshed with the blood of patriots and tyrants” . Hell, if they keep playing it, I’ll be in full blown warrior mode, more so than now, only I may be inspired to wear a corset. Haha! :). As the French fighter said in the movie, when Gibson observed his choice of garments, ” if I going to die, I will die well dressed”. Boy did that make me laugh!

I know I can be silly here. But I d like to think that I’ve been here long enough to be able to be that way, as well as being serious as hell. We are in a fight for our lives, and I’m not going to cry or be scared. I’m going to be strong and as humorous as long as I can. Because I have kids, and a grandchild. Their lives are worth fighting for. Whatever I can do. I can hold my own, but I’d probably be better off making meals for our side. I’m here for the long run. I will do anything, because I am a patriot, I am an American national, and if I am condemned for that, then so be it.

I get it JD, under the Bill of Rights and constitution, he does not have the right to issue his force through executive order, but because we are an occupied nation, through force he can do it. Yes. It IS the reason we should fight.
I’m not coming across as I wish. I know and you know that we are an occupied nation. But the rest of the country thinks (if they still care, or are educated), he is bound by the constitution. They believe we are free. Through that line of thinking, he cannot issue an EO, and declare a law, which did not originate in the house. He should not be able to get away with this, and he should be called out on it. But no one will. In my frustration, all I can ask is why aren’t the people in an uproar over this sheer tyranny! Purely rhetorical, the masses are asleep. Anyone who speaks in defense of our republic is looked upon as a terrorist. As long as they tow the commie line, all is fine.
