Run Hide Tell: Stay Safe in the event of a terrorist attack abroad

Whilst the chances of being involved in a terror attack remain extremely rare, holidaymakers travelling abroad this summer are being urged to watch a new video designed to help keep them safe in the event of an incident.

With millions of sun-seekers expected to jet off over the coming months, counter terrorism police – in association with the Foreign Office and ABTA The Travel Association – have launched a new four minute film outlining what to do if caught up in an attack.

There is no specific intelligence that British holidaymakers will be targeted this summer but the launch of the film and supporting information is part of a general campaign to raise awareness among the public. It highlights the steps people can take to minimise the impact of an attack – including knowing the local emergency services number.

This innovative new approach encourages everyone to be prepared should the worst happen.

The central message is Run, Hide, Tell and was first launched by UK police in December 2015 after attacks in Paris. It was recently re-issued to the public by officers during London’s Borough Market incident.

  1. Booga-booga. Fear porn at its best. No, you are not allowed a weapon to defend yourself. “it may take a while for the pigs to arrive”, in the meanwhile kiss your butt goodby. Be a meek little lamb and submit. Reminds me of Dr. Who series where the robots screamed out over and over “you must comply, you must comply” Piss on the British and their weak kneed responses. I will protect my own, with deadly force. Too bad that they won’t anymore.

  2. I hear ya, Farmer Dave! 🙂

In the past, when I took part in peace demonstrations the organizers always told us that if the police came we should just sit peacefully down. This, when all my instincts were screaming: Run for the hills!! Along with the “sit peacefully down,” directive, there are two other “safety” dictates that I’ve always found disturbing:

    >>Follow Instructions

    >>Shelter in place

In most cases, that sounds like forced suicide.

Instincts are very powerful responses and I’m trying to rely on them more and more. So much programming to undo. I am not able to listen to The Word From the Trenches broadcasts very often, but the few times I do, I feel my instincts are being healed/reawakened. Very grateful for that.

  3. Wow! And at no point in this video do they show anyone with a gun. Just the sound of a firecracker. Yet, we are supposed to run and hide?

Also, it looks to me like the only people the police have managed to capture are the very people who called in the attack seeking help. Especially when they tell you to listen to the police and do whatever they tell you because they don’t know who is who. Kinda like my incident with Round Rock police department. Apparently the RR police couldn’t tell the difference between a white guy and a black guy.

In any case, the only evil guys with guns that I see in this video are the police wearing ski masks and going over the top with everything.

Finally, at the end, it tells you to listen to the police and follow these steps as it “COULD save your life”, meaning most likely it won’t and that the police thugs will mistake you for a guy with a gun (even though it is painfully obvious that you’re not holding a gun or weapon of any kind) because they will come into the place already “in fear for their lives”.

    Pathetic.

    1. By the way, unless this is the British version of “See something, say something”, then what’s with the British accents? I guess all of the American crisis actors have already been exposed too much.

          1. Me too, Frank_Face. 😆
When I read this story, in my head, I heard “Run Away!!! Run Away!!!” (Bunny scene from “The Holy Grail”). LOL

      1. NC,
Yes, it is the UK version of “See something, say something”. 😉

  4. Run and hide…

    That’s just short of …

Stick your head between your legs and kiss your azz goodbye.

    Lock and Load…

I think that has a better ring to it instead of run and hide.
