HAMBURG, Pa. – A student’s “1950s-style” lunch box left unattended resulted in the bomb squad being called.

WFMZ reports Hamburg Area School District personnel were alerted to a “suspicious item” outside Hamburg High School and called police.

According to the news station:

[Superintendent Steven] Keifer said police arrived, took a look at the suspicious item and immediately called the bomb squad.

Before the bomb squad arrived, school officials determined that the item was an old-style metal lunch box, similar to those used by construction workers in the 1950s, and it belonged to a student, Keifer said.

The contents of the lunch box weren’t disclosed, but the bomb squad was “called off” and students went back to their classrooms.

  1. Oh brother! 🙄 You’re telling me these stupid idiots are so dumb that they’ve never seen a lunch box like that before?

    Unfrigginbelievable…….

My grandfather used to take one of those lunch boxes to work when he was working at the Ford plant years and years ago.

  2. A suspicious item was found outside the lunch room. The superintendent called in an eminent threat to the local police. They in turn found the item to be very suspicious and called in a DEF-CON 4 air strike for the area. It was later determined from the small pieces found at the crime seine that it was just an old lunch box. The police and the school superintendent later commented that it is better to be safe than sorry.

    REALLY?
