Students at San Bernardino college told to evacuate because of hoax bomb threat

Police evacuated a college in San Bernardino, California, after being told that there was a threat to campus.

‘Please leave the campus immediately,’ said a tweet from San Bernardino Valley College signed by community college police chief Pierre Galvez.

However, police soon said that the threat, which the athletics department called a bomb threat, was a hoax.

‘We’ve ended our investigation,’ Lieutenant David Green told The Press Enterprise around 6pm local time.

The decision to evacuate campus was reportedly made after the threat was phoned in.

The school is roughly three miles from the Inland Regional Center where 14 people were killed in shooters by Syed Farook and his wife Tashfeen Malik.

San Bernardino Valley College is a community college, and its website says that it enrolls more than 12,000 students each semester.
