UTICA, IND. — Southern Indiana authorities have detonated a “suspicious device” found on an Ohio river barge that tuned out to harmless.

Utica Town Marshal Charles Reven tells the (Louisville, Ky.) Courier-Journal (http://cjky.it/19JocNR ) that members of an Indiana State Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal team blew it up Monday evening and found it wasn’t a pipe bomb as initially suspected.

He says a Mount Vernon Barge Services employee cleaning up the barge had brought the item ashore, not knowing what it was.

Utica is about 10 miles north of Louisville.

  1. How long will these idiots run around blowing up “suspicious devices” before they realize they’re being used as fools to make bogus headlines?

They probably blew up someone’s lunch box, but that’s one reason to make sure you only hire morons for police forces.
