Trenchers Bid Farewell to Our Brother, Oldvet, Rest in Peace

oldvetHere is the email we received followed by my response:

My name is —— I am the son of —— known on the internet chat forums and Militia sites as “OLDVET”.

According to Dads bookmarks, FTTWR was a site he frequented and voiced opinions on yours and several others, this was his favorite spot as it would seem.

Here according to his files he listed 12 folks whom he thought were genuine Americans, names such as AngleNYC, NC, NWO#, Digger somebody, Joe, Cathleen, Henry, bulldog, JR, and a few others.

As his eldest it is my duty and privilege to handle these affairs for my Father.

On Thursday April 3rd My Dad passed on.

We, I and my Sister, are as now just sorting through dads affairs and tying up his loose ends. Its quiet the chore if you can imagine.

I will not go into the details other than to say Pop had several years of failing health yet he fought a good fight to the end, with dignity and forbearance.  Much of his pain and trials he kept to himself and my Mother, bless her heart she would not rat Dad out, even to us.

My dad was a man who asked for no quarters nor did he give any, he was a hard and outspoken man but a morale and fair Father who set a high standard for the 3 of his kids and 7 grand kids.

Many cussed him and some thanked him, yet I never saw my dad act in any way that would compromise his age old integrity as a True American Icon.

He was a man of strong opinions and moral convictions, and lived what he talked and spoke. He was a dinosaur.

Mr. Shivley, please let me know if my Father had any outspoken commitments or debts to any of the good folk there at FTTWR and we will try as we might to make recompense for such said.

With Sincerity and honour,

——————-

And here is my response to oldvet’s son:

Mr. ——,

Your father contributed his experience and knowledge to our people, and the only debt owed is from his country to him. We will let our readers know that oldvet has moved on. Our deepest condolences to you and your family and thank you for letting us know of the situation.

Kindest regards,

Henry Shivley

    A people great and strong;
Men who, for truth and honor’s sake,
    Stand fast and suffer long.

Brave men who work while others sleep,
Who dare while others fly —
They build a nation’s pillars deep
And lift them to the sky”.

  3. I must echo funny farmers response. Honor and integrity, are traits that are hard to find now days. Oldvet obviously had those traits, and passed them on to you his son. I would be honored to shake his sons hand and give him a good hug. God bless you for the honor and respect you have forwarded to FTTWR. My heart grieves for what you are going through, as I have gone through loosing my parents in the past. Your father will be with you throughout your life. God speed brother.

    1. I’m still speechless. Thank you Paul and Funny Farmer for putting into words what I couldn’t/can’t at the moment.

      1. Aw Angel. My eyes are still watery. There are no words that express what I feel in my heart for his family.

  4. Rest in peace, Oldvet.

I’ll always miss your words of wisdom. I’ve never met anyone who had a better understanding of things than you did, and I worried when I hadn’t seen you around in a while. I’m very sorry to hear about this, and as the Farmer pointed out, (above) you left the world a son to be proud of. That’s the best we can do.

  5. To the son of OLDVET,

I’m greatly sorry for your loss. You’re father was a true patriot and a man of honor. Words cannot express how broken up I feel right now. We will never forget his friendship, his values, his experiences and everything he has contributed to our country. He will be greatly missed.

My heartfelt condolences to you and the rest of your family. May he rest in peace and may God be with you and your family during this time.

  6. I remember seeing his name in the comments when I first entered the Trench, Be of good cheer family of Oldvet, you were well loved….

  7. I sent oldvet’s son the link to this announcement of his father’s death so he could read what our people had to say. This is his kindly reply:

Mr Shivley I do thank you and much obliged for your attention in this matter. Dad would just smile….at all the fuss. He’d not be happy at all for me making over this with you folks…but he would also be pissed as hell If We did not inform you as to his whereabouts. LOL…he is/was a card for sure…

Sir,..Many thanks to each of you folks for being a friend to my Father…it was Special to him ..and now to me likewise.

Again many thanks and long live the REPUBLIC.

    IN warmest regards

Oldvet was definitely an American national warrior, whose defiance to tyranny goes on unabated by his passing, as he has provided a fine man to step into his shoes.
God bless the Republic, death to the international corporate mafia, we shall prevail.

  12. A true American patriot.
My deepest sympathy to the son and family of oldvet. He will be greatly missed by myself and all of the other posters here. Not one to mince words, he called a spade a spade, and was firm in his beliefs. He was impossible not to like. He was very well-informed, as are the majority of posters on FTT. I always enjoyed our conversations, and appreciated his insight and candor. He had a great sense of humor as well, and some of his comments would crack me up. I’ll miss that.

My prayers go out for his family. He was highly respected here, and we all share your loss.

I would also like to thank his son for contacting Henry, and letting us know.
