The City of Wichita Falls has made a “drastic” change to plans for Thursday’s scheduled mandatory evacuations, according to its Facebook page.
Residents in parts of the Tanglewood neighborhood and parts of the city’s east side will be evacuated at 8 a.m. Thursday due to flooding in the Wichita River.
That evacuation had been scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday.
Electricity will be shut off in the evacuated areas at 8 a.m., the city said.
The city provided a list of suggested preparations in a post on its Facebook page Wednesday night.
