Big Win for 2nd Amendment Patriots in Curry County

Sent to us by Gray Rider.

After about 25 Patriots engaged the Curry County Board of Commissioners, in a sometimes contentious discussion, the 2nd Amendment Preservation Resolution was passed 3-0 making Curry County the 19th of 36 counties to have passed similar motions.

Chair Susan Brown was obviously not in favor of the Resolution and irrationally argued that because she had sworn an oath to the WHOLE Constitution, she didn’t need to support any single Amendment.  Huh ????  (Must be some kind of Naturalized Canadian/American Logic.)  She had from the beginning of this effort kept insisting on knowing what legislation this was aimed at and would not accept that it was a preemptive Resolution intended to put the State Legislature on notice that the County would not support ANY current or future State efforts, restricting our rights, especially the 2nd Amendment via anti-firearms legislation.

We knew the author of the Resolution, Commissioner David Brock Smith was going to vote YES and that Chair Susan Brown would vote NO, but only if that was going to be the winning vote.   Now that’s integrity !!!  So, Vice Chair Tom Huxley was the wild card and after Commissioner Smith voted YES, Vice Chair Huxley then voted YES and thus, to avoid being “Controversial” Chair Susan Brown’s face went white and she voted YES so as not to look bad as the sole NO vote against the 2nd Amendment Preservation Resolution.  There is nothing like standing up for your beliefs…..unless it becomes too uncomfortable !!!

(Note:  As we exited the meeting room in glorious victory they were still executing the Heimlich maneuver on Chair Brown.)

The Credit goes to all those patriots that got out of their armchairs and spent their time, energy, and gas money on two trips to Gold Beach to make their voices heard.  Special thanks to Kevin Starrett of OFF (Oregon Firearms Federation) and all of the Counties that preceded us, for blazing the trail.
