Bill Gates buys big chunk of land in Arizona to build ‘smart city’

PHOENIX – One of Bill Gates’ investment firms has spent $80 million to kickstart the development of a brand-new community in the far West Valley.

The large plot of land is about 45 minutes west of downtown Phoenix off I-10 near Tonopah.

The proposed community, made up of close to 25,000 acres of land, is called Belmont. According to Belmont Partners, a real estate investment group based in Arizona, the goal is to turn the land into its own “smart city.”

“Belmont will create a forward-thinking community with a communication and infrastructure spine that embraces cutting-edge technology, designed around high-speed digital networks, data centers, new manufacturing technologies and distribution models, autonomous vehicles and autonomous logistics hubs,” Belmont Partners said in a news release.

Ronald Schott, executive emeritus at the Arizona Technology Council, says the land Gates’ company purchased is in a good spot, in part due to the proposed I-11 freeway, which would run right through Belmont and connect to Las Vegas.

“Bill Gates is known for innovation and those kind of things and I think he picked the right place. He’s coming to Arizona,” Schott said.

According to Belmont Partners, 3,800 acres will go towards office, commercial and retail space. Then, 470 acres will be used for public schools. Plus, there’s room for 80,000 residential units.

“Comparable in square miles and projected population to Tempe, Arizona, Belmont will transform a raw, blank slate into a purpose-built edge city built around a flexible infrastructure model,” said Belmont Properties.

“Finally Arizona’s getting recognized for being a place for innovation,” added Schott.

So far, there’s no word on when construction will start.

    1. Yep…in August, 1986 or so we drove through Pheonix around 11 pm and then headed into Blythe, California near the Cal-Ariz border around 1 am–and it was 105 degrees!

Memo to Mr. AI-transhuman…it’s called ARIZONA for a reason! Or are you too damned smart to pick apart clearly worded Spanish? ARIZONA means “arid zone” dumbass!

  1. This is a new and improved form of social engineering. They know full well that Millennials will be drawn to these types of communities and a vast majority of them will allow themselves to be herded in like sheep. “Give me my bread, circuses, electronic gadgets, easy commutes and smart houses”, they say, “and I will be content”. They’re planning a community on a smaller scale in East Idaho just north of Pocatello with the express intention of drawing in the Millennials specifically. In a couple more generations’ time, who will be left to feed the population?

    Wake up, little sheeple.

  2. I’d love to genetically modify insects and animals and turn them loose on his “smart” city and see what happens. Let the fun begin!

  3. AHHHHHHH,GATESVILLE——————-

    AMERICAS’ TEL-AVIV……………..
    BUILD IT !!!!!
    POPULATE IT!!!!

    NUKE IT !!!!!!!!!!

  4. Isn’t this the same area where last year McCain wanted to push that one small town of people out in order to build a city and they refused and kicked him out instead? I think it was off of I-11. If so, we now know why he did it.

  5. You can bet this city will be equipped with every surveillance device made. To keep track of its residents…for “safety”. A chip will need to be inserted under the skin. You know…for safety. It’ll open your door and allow to buy food at the community store. It’ll also record every metric of your life. Sex, exercise, sleep, awake.

Only liberals will be allowed. Any deviation from the program and you’ll get reeducation. Maybe kicked out. Except for the chip. That stays with you.

Welcome to the grand utopia. Microsoft style.

  6. I keep trying to make sense of all of this.

What we are witnessing is a gangland turf war.

    Factions choosing sides.

    Unfortunately. …

    We are the collateral damage.

    Our lives mean nothing.

Put this concept in your head.

They said Paddock was a multimillionaire.

But when when you’re in the ball game with multi….Billionaires.

    That means nothing.

So where do you think you rank in the hierarchy. …?

  7. It’s going to be real funny when this “smart city” gets a smart virus, and all of a sudden none of the high-tech gadgetry works. And of course, it will be filled with millennials who are useless without high-tech gadgetry.

I see Bill Gates expanding the problems of his shitty computers to an entire metropolis, populated by snowflakes who can only cry when things go wrong. (and everything is going to go wrong).
