Bill passed to require drug programs in all W.Va. public schools

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) — A bill has been passed by Legislature to require drug awareness and prevention programs in all West Virginia public schools.

House Bill 2195 will now head to Governor Jim Justice’s desk to be signed into law.

The programs must be in place no later than the 2018-2019 school year. 

House Bill 2195 also requires instruction on the dangers and addictive nature of opioid use and safer alternatives to treat pain between grades 6-12.

Students must have at least sixty minutes of instuction on the dangers of opioid use, their addictive characteristics and safer alternatives to treat pain.

  1. We need to teach the children how to do drugs so they don’t burn themselves on the crack pipe or shoot too much junk when the get a good batch. hmmm…
