Three weeks ago, John Kerry came, saw, and launched a blitz-diplomatic campaign which promptly resulted in, well, Russia annexing Crimea.

Now it is the turn of that other foreign policy titan, neo-con John McCain, to complete Kerry’s job and finally launch the GDP-boosting World War III. He may have the chance to do that as soon as Thursday, when he, along with other senators, is slated to travel to Ukraine to “show support for the government there.” Or, said otherwise, to show support for the government that is in power thanks to an illegitimate and deadly coup that took place just over two weeks ago, despite the formal signing of a memorandum, endorsed by all Western powers, that stipulated a peaceful transition as well as presidential elections in the coming months. China’s official Xinhua News Agency reported late Wednesday a government website has satellite images of suspected debris from the missing Malaysia Airlines plane that vanished last week with 239 aboard.

According to the report, the satellite images from the morning of March 9 appear to show “three suspected floating objects” of varying sizes in the sea off the southern tip of Vietnam and east of Malaysia – a part of the original search area for the aircraft, which was enroute from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.   Continue reading “Chinese government website says it has images of suspected plane debris”

A U.S. Senate panel on Wednesday approved legislation that would impose strict sanctions on Russians involved in Moscow’s intervention in Ukraine, provide aid to the new government in Kiev, and implement reforms of the International Monetary Fund.

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted 14-3 for the measure, with several committee Republicans joining the Democratic majority in favor. The bill next goes to the full Senate for a vote. “Is there a drone flying over the explosion site in Harlem?” quizzed Gizmondo in a Wednesday morning headline after a small black object was captured on camera hovering above the smoking ruins.

Yes – it appears there was, according to reporters from the Animal New York website, who captured these photos of Brian Wilson, the pilot of a DJI quadcopter, which he said was capable of flying to a height of 1,400 feet. Wilson was taking pictures to sell to a news outlet, but he cryptically revealed: “I got some good shots that ain’t nobody getting.”

Several, maybe even a few dozen ‘Igla’ man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS) were stolen from Ukraine’s military depots during the incidents in this country, a senior Ukrainian military man told RIA Novosti.
