PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – The 25-year-old father who said he shot and killed two men who broke into his Prospect-area home Sunday morning told CBS 6 senior reporter Wayne Covil he did not know the men he killed.
The man said he and his two-year-old son were sleeping when he heard a loud crash inside his home off Route 460 early Sunday morning. The man said he grabbed a handgun and left his room to investigate. Soon he found three men inside his home.
The men exchanged gunfire that lasted less than a minute, the man said.
One of the intruders died in the man’s home, a second man died in the front lawn. The third suspect got away from the home.
Prince Edward Sheriff’s deputies are not releasing much information about the crime or the suspects. Investigators used search dogs to try and find the third man. They said it was likely that third suspect drove off in a vehicle park on Route 460.
The 25-year-old man said he and his family are no longer staying at the home over fears the third suspect will return.
The bodies of the two deceased suspects are at the Medical Examiner’s Office in Richmond where a cause of death will be determined.
Investigators have not yet released the identities of the men involved.
This is a developing story.

And the police did not arrest the man who shot and killed the two intruders? I’m shocked! This man defended his own home with a gun, instead of waiting for the police to arrive. Isn’t that illegal these days? (sarcasm)
Hey N C
I Read the rest of the article where the sheriiff says this is how we treat thugs in VA.
Steve
In Canada the population has been conditioned by gun control to be victims and not survivors. The only option available is to call 911 so the cops can clean up the mess that used to be you and your family and then whine about the need for bigger budgets and more cops “to keep us safe”.
The police and violent criminals agree on one thing; gun control works…
Two outta three ain’t bad.
“The bodies of the two deceased suspects are at the Medical Examiner’s Office in Richmond where a cause of death will be determined.”
My first guess would be severe blood loss, due to extensive leakage, coupled with acute lead poisoning.
Of course, I’m not a ‘trained medical expert’, so I could be wrong. Of one thing I’m fairly certain, however.
They didn’t die of old age.
No descriptions of the intruders? I’m shocked I tell you…
