Family unhurt after semi truck crashes into home

WAYNE COUNTY, Ind. – Quite a scare for a Wayne County mother and her child Friday morning, as a semi-truck crashed into their home. Both were inside, but luckily neither were hurt.

The crash happened along U.S. 35 between Jacksonburg Road and Hadley Road, around 9:45 a.m.

The force of the crash shredded the truck and sent a part of it into the front of the home.

“I think it’s a testament to the speed the driver was going,” said Sgt. John Bowling, with Indiana State Police.

Investigators said the driver, Makhmud Amanov, 27, Corona, N.Y., was taken to a Richmond hospital to be checked out, but he had no signs of serious injury.

Police said Amanov passed two cars in a no passing zone and was going too fast to negotiate a curve. The truck went off the road, flipped and dumped its load before crashing into the house. Preliminary charges include tickets for driving too fast to avoid collision and passing in violation of signs and markings.

He was also also ticketed for four federal Department of Transportation violations, including driver over his allowed time and other log book violations, police said. The truck was hauling rolls of paper.

“He was over on his logbook. He was over on his daily driving as well as his total driving hours. So, chances are very good that Mr. Amanov was fatigued at the time of the crash,” said Bowling.

The homeowner, David Craig, was in Westfield when he got the call about his home of ten years. His wife and three-year-old daughter were inside the house but just getting out of bed upstairs.

Craig spent Friday moving furniture and other belongings out of the house, preparing for unexpected repairs, amid obvious blessings.

He said he was incredibly thankful for his family’s safety.

“Certainly, the family is very blessed to have not been injured, so is Mr. Amanov,” said Bowling.

  1. Don’t like my driving? Stay off the road….and keep your house out of my way, too.

Makhmud Amanov got his camel-jockey license in Afghanistan, but Obama changed it to a CDL because we need skilled labor here.

With shipping grinding to a halt all over the world, why was this piece of crap driving in the first place?
