Former Confederate monument contractor finds $200K Lamborghini burned, TV station reports

NOLA

The contractor who pulled out of the job to remove Confederate monuments in New Orleans after citing death threats found a $200,000 Lamborghini charred beyond recognition in the company’s parking lot Tuesday morning, according to WDSU.

An attorney for the company, Roy Maughan Jr., told WDSU that while an investigation into the burnt vehicle is ongoing, its discovery was “extremely suspicious” considering the threats company owner David Mahler and his staff have received in recent days.

A man who shot photos of the Lamborghini during what appeared to be a Baton Rouge car show over the weekend posted before and after shots on his Facebook page Tuesday morning.

Mahler, owner of H&O Investments in Baton Rouge, had been hired to take down the statues of Confederate generals Robert E. Lee and P.G.T. Beauregard, as well as the Jefferson Davis monument and the Battle of Liberty Place obelisk. But during a court hearing Thursday, Rebecca Dietz, who is defending the city against a lawsuit from those who opposed the monuments’ removal, announced that the company would no longer be performing the work.

In a letter to the city last week, Maughan said that Mahler’s wife had received threatening phone calls at the couple’s home. “These telephone calls, unkindly name-calling and public outrage expressed in various social media, as well as other area businesses threatening to cancel existing contracts with H&O, have precipitated H&O’s cessation of work,” Maughan said in his letter.

In an email, a spokesperson for Mayor Mitch Landrieu said “the City of New Orleans has been in contact with the FBI and supports a full investigation into this matter.”

  1. So who owns this Lamborghini and why does there seem to be careful tip-toeing and carefully selected words? Unless I missed something? If I did, someone kindly show me (seriously, not being sarcastic!)

  2. what they arn’t saying is that this scum bag contractor would still be doing the job of” removing American history” if it weren’t for the threats

so either way he got what he deserved, I hope his company goes tits up.. I actually hope its his lawyers POS foreign car too

  3. “… other area businesses threatening to cancel existing contracts with H&O, have precipitated H&O’s cessation of work,”

There’s only so many statues that can be removed. After that…

If the POS can afford that kind of mammon for a car, he’s GOT to be a good ‘ol boy Mason.

    Or jew.
