Having made the week for Vix buyers quite profitable, President Trump – whose North Korea rhetoric sent market volatility soaring in the past week – appeared ready to spread the love among long-suffering oil bulls, when on Friday afternoon Trump refused to rule out a U.S. military intervention in Venezuela, and said that the US has a military option in the insolvent, quasi civil war Latin American nation.
“I’m not going to rule out a military option,” Trump told reporters at his New Jersey golf club discussing recent events in Venezuela. “We have many options for Venezuela, including a possible military option, if necessary,” Trump said after a meeting with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and UN Ambassador Nikki Haley. His Homeland Security advisor, Tom Bossert, who worked with the Bush administration, penned an editorial for The New York Times this week calling for a reauthorization of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. Section 702 allows for vacuuming up emails, instant messages, Facebook messages, web browsing history, and more in direct violation of the Fourth Amendment. Update: Trump’s bluff may be working already. Following Trump’s ultimatum, Mark Meadows, chairman of the Freedom Caucus said that the healthcare bill has been improved, and that the Freedom Caucus will meet and discuss the revised bill. It’s only been two days since Donald Trump won the 2016 Presidential election, but in that time, his position on numerous policies has changed. During his campaign trail, President-elect Trump promised his supporters that he’d repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (also known as “Obamacare”), as well as withdraw the US’ military support from South Korea.
48 hours after Hillary Clinton conceded the win to Trump, he’s changed his stance on both. The Independent reports that after Donald Trump met with President Barack Obama in the White House and the pair discussed the highlights of the Obama administration – particularly the fact that 20 million Americans have received healthcare with the Affordable Care Act (and 100,000 have signed up for Obamacare in the past 48 hours), Trump had a change of heart. New York — In a special session of the United Nations Security Council on Friday, the U.S., along with several other countries, slammed the practice of forcibly removing Palestinian civilians by Israel to make way for Israeli settlers, saying the behavior is leading to a “one-state reality” for Palestinians.
