Former Virginia State Police trooper arrested on child porn charge

SALEM, Va. (WSET) — Police said a former Virginia State Police trooper is facing a child pornography charge.

They said Justin B. Hipps, 35, of Covington was arrested on one felony count of possession of child pornography. 

According to police, Hipps was assigned as a trooper to Area 38 in the Salem Division and was hired by the Department in February 2007.

Police said Hipps is no longer employed by the Department and his last day was April 5.

Hipps was transported to the Alleghany County Jail.
