Christians have been taught for many years that the prophecies of Jesus regarding “end times” are yet to be fulfilled. Matters such as the great tribulation as described by Jesus are found mentioned in the gospels and are the subject of many parables told by Jesus. However, John explains that a careful examination of the writings of Josephus, a well-respected scholar and historian, when taken alongside the words of Jesus, paint a different picture. Many of the words of prophecy spoken by Jesus have already been fulfilled, says john. The understanding of this brings empowerment and great joy to the believer.
John goes on to explain that in this current age, when God reaches out to his people it is with a whole heart that offers nothing but mercy. A time is coming, however, when a day of reckoning will come upon all people. Rich with scripture verses as well as historical teaching, this message will encourage the listener to be found, when Jesus returns, carrying out the will of our Lord.
So is he a Preterist or what?
There is destruction in JerUSAlem and it will continue until every knee will bow, and humble ourselves and turn form OUR wicked ways. Our God never put away the Old covenant, it still is as applied today.
Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”
Matthew 22:37-40
Christ fulfilled the law as the flesh was weak and could not. One is MADE righteous through Christ, not the keeping of the law.
“Fulfill” does not mean “abolish”.
When you’re driving and you stop at a stop-sign you ‘fulfill’ that law – but you don’t abolish the stop-sign law by stopping at it! – the stop-sign law still exists after you have ‘fulfilled’ that law by stopping at it.
To fulfill the law is to keep it!
“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.”
Paul understood this:
” Do we then make void the law through faith? GOD FORBID: yea, WE ESTABLISH THE LAW.”
Paul, again:
“For we know that the law is spiritual…”
This is the verse that the church fails to teach…
Because the church doesn’t understand it! – and that makes the pope very, very happy!
TN,
You’re correct when you wrote, ” Our God never put away the Old covenant…”.
The difference between then (before the crucifixion) and now (after the crucifixion) is that there was a change made to the Old Covenant, and that change took place at the time of the crucifixion and it made it a “New” Covenant.
To call it a “New” Covenant really isn’t accurate – it should be called the “Re-Newed” Covenant, because that is what it is; an old covenant that was RE-newed.
Understanding the change opens up a whole new understanding of the Bible.
So are you saying we should not keep the Law? We are to keep his Commandments.
The Pharisees & Sadducees initiated the ‘riot’ that caused the Romans to burn down the temple… it’s what they wanted to happen.
ALL the genealogical records (especially of the Levites) were kept in the temple. After they were destroyed no one could prove their ancestry any longer, which meant open season on the ‘priesthood’… any & all welcome.
