Police in a Boston suburb are investigating reports that lasers were pointed at two airplanes and possibly also at several cars.

Newton, Mass., police said they were told by the Federal Aviation Administration of reports from pilots Tuesday evening, WCVB-TV reported. One of the planes was flying into Logan International Airport, a few miles to the east, and the other had just taken off for Atlanta.

Police searched the area where the lasers apparently originated without result.

A few hours earlier, a driver reported a man shined a laser into his face and was doing the same thing to other drivers, police said.

Lasers can cause temporary or permanent blindness if they are shone into the eyes. UPI
