Several times a week you can hear gunfire echoing from Brandi Joseph’s scenic Southern California property. A licensed firearms instructor and dealer, Joseph decided to open Fortune Firearms in December to serve a growing and rapidly changing clientele.
“There is a huge uptick in female owners,” Joseph said. “Women are getting trained; women are carrying… liberal and conservative.”
Proof of that change pulled up Joseph’s long, dusty driveway in the San Jacinto Valley just before 10 a.m. for a Saturday social, of sorts. A group of seven African American women stepped out of their cars seemingly eager to start their first firearms training session.
“Our society and climate is changing… it’s just better to be prepared for your own safety and protection. That’s how we feel,” Laronya Day, who organized the outing, said.
Now in their early 50s, the women have been friends since they were kids in Los Angeles, about two and a half hours from Joseph’s business. And most of them acknowledge they lean left politically.
“Do you have some friends who would be totally turned off by this?” we asked Charlean Ward. “Absolutely,” she responded. “That’s their choice; I’m exercising my choice.”
Jamie Beverly looked less certain, if not uneasy. “Seeing all the guns on the table, I was like ‘ugh,’” Beverly said. “Would you ever want to carry?” we asked her. “I don’t think so,” she whispered.

I believe all women, in fact all people should have guns. A woman in fear for her life or out of torment would pull a trigger.
Trencher ladies, I’m glad we’ve got you, but there is one undeniable fact that keeps getting overlooked. The English far outnumbered the Norsemen who killed them and plundered their land. And what is the key? It’s called testosterone. It is part of the makeup of the male species. No dike, by putting on men’s clothes and butching her hair, can obtain testosterone.
I think this planet it fixing to take care of itself though the most natural means not being conceived.

Mom’s folks were from the Cork area. Came here sometime before WW1 I don’t know much about my heritage, and won’t be asking the fking Mormans.

I hear you about “testosterone,” Henry. It really is most alien to me. Even in my most aggravated moments I cannot summon what I hear you summon every day on the broadcast. I don’t even want to. It is against my nature, and I know that is how NATURE ITSELF intended it. But I will fight as best I can. And I say, THANK GOODNESS FOR TESTOSTERONE!! THANK GOODNESS FOR ALL MY BROTHERS!!!! Liberal females with guns, eh? Just be careful you don’t shoot your soy boy husband because you fail to turn on the safety… I thank God every day we trained our two kids to use guns when they were kids. Both are much more gun-oriented than I am (since I wasn’t trained as a kid).
My gf took our pup to a walking trail the other day for a change of scenery. The trail is called “bear path”. Whenever she takes the dog out to a preserve/trail, she straps a .40 on her florescent orange strap. She encountered a woman with a small child on said trail and the woman casually asked her about the reasoning for carrying on the trail. I guess some people are better than others with situational awareness because my gf said it looked like something clicked inside her head when she reminded her it was called “bear path”.
