Life As A Turban-Wearing American Trucker

Premiered Apr 16, 2019

A growing number of truckers in the U.S. are Sikhs from Punjab, India. Some of them have crossed the U.S.-Mexico border and faced detention to realize their American dream.

AJ+ Producer Shreen Khan rides along with one of these long-haul truckers, making chai and listening to Bollywood music in his big rig while hearing about his life on the road, why he left Punjab and the discrimination he’s faced in the U.S.

  1. These were the first of many invaders in fkg up this buisness . They led the way to no pay. They knew exactly what they were doing.

The silent enemy. Nobody out here likes these rag head MTFKRS.

    1. ‘They led the way to no pay. They knew exactly what they were doing.’…..spot on Mark…and is happening in other professions as well

  2. It’s like another creation of country within a country. And that narrator!! Telling us that with truck-driving, immigrants are filling the need.

Sometimes it feels like the whole world is telling us to move over. The great shove.

Soon the time will come when…

    🙁

    .

  3. Would you believe it, but Sikhism is likely the world’s fastest growing religion…I mean, if it can take over parts of India (not just Punjab either, as well as Pakistan…and, oh yeah, northern England as well)…but, if Jews are too “superior” to be truckers, it might as well be Sikhs! 😉 (Just kidding, Mark!)

    1. Really dig your book “Battle of the Band” DL
Your a great story teller! Excellent read! Incredible how it mirrors real life in many ways, (selling your soul) this makes it great to read.
