Well, let’s face it, we were all awaiting this one. A new online dating site is parading that it will “Make Dating Great Again” by bringing together Americans frightened of living under a President Trump, with matches across the northern border.
Maple Match, the brainchild of 25-year-old Texan, Joe Goldman, was inspired after repeated proclamations from Goldman’s circle of friends that they would move to Canada if the likely GOP frontrunner became president in November, according to NBC News.
“I have always been fascinated by Canada,” Goldman said. “So I thought to myself, ‘Given the current political situation, this could bring Canadians and Americans closer together’.”
Goldman told NBC that he launched the site just over a week ago and already 13,000 people have signed up, a quarter from Canada.
“The response has been tremendous,” he said. “I’m getting people from all over, but the strongest responses have been from Seattle and New York City. Our first inquiries came from Billings, Montana.”
Goldman, who isn’t partened up himself, said he too is a member of the site and hopes of finding his dream Canadian. He told NBC that there is no registration fee.
“Maple Match makes it easy for Americans to find the ideal Canadian partner to save them from the unfathomable horror of a Trump presidency,” the site declares.
In 2003 when George W. Bush was running for reelection, many Americans expressed selling their personal belongings and emigrating to Canada.
Meanwhile this year, Lena Dunham along with other celebrities have threatened to cross north if Trump does wind up in the White House. However, members should be wary that marrying a Canuck doesn’t automatically guarantee Canadian citizenship, according to various websites that specialize in immigration issues, reports NBC News.

I’m A Canadian living in the US (legally working for past 10 years) living through the craziness and the election – with the people’s choice to reject the corruption of the long-time ‘controlled’ US ‘government’. To even suggest that Trump supporters should ‘match up’ with Canadians – which is supposed to be an insult – really exposes how out of touch with reality this commentator (not journalist) is. Any real investigation would result in the understanding that Canadians hold strong values about how to treat each other, and we would only ‘team up’ with people, like Trump, of like mind and values. Scratch the word ‘socialism’ and all the negative connotations that have been ingrained in you around that word. Replace it with the idea of equall access to medical care because it’s paid for by all – our taxes pay for this instead of weapons and wars!!
Im willing to stay in the US now because there is real hope that government, banking, and shadow government corruption may truly end. Maybe, just maybe, the US people will begin to shake off the vestiges of the warmongers and criminals who have held them slaves to their profiteering and greed, and will begin to support and demand that government represents and serves the people. I’d like today to witness that transformation, and the effects it could have on all nations.
I’m staying. If it doesn’t happen then I will most surely go to ‘team up’ with my like-minded Canadians who already know the values that I hope and pray will grow in the minds of Americans and their leaders.
