Man’s eye gouged out, nose bitten during East Village fight

The San Diego Union-Tribune – by David Hernandez

A man accused of gouging out another man’s eye and biting off a bit of his nose during a fight in East Village was arrested Thursday night, San Diego police said.

The scuffle began when the assailant rammed a shopping cart into the victim, who was walking west on Market Street near Park Boulevard about 8:30 p.m., police said. The two men started yelling at each other.

The attacker then took out an umbrella and swung it at the stranger. When the victim took it away, the assailant started punching him. During the fight, the attacker bit off a chunk of the victim’s nose and gouged out one of his eyes, police Officer Robert Heims said.

The victim, a 60-year-old man, was taken to a hospital. His injuries were not considered to be life-threatening.

Police found the suspect, a 44-year-old man, a short distance away and arrested him. He was to be booked into jail on suspicion of assault and mayhem.

  1. I don’t seem to see the problem here.
First off …the guy lost his eye.
Well if your are awake…. you’ll know you have 3 eyes.
Usually. …the third eye is blind.
    He lost an ear…..
    Well people have two ears….
    Yet they are so dumb.
With two ears…. they still can’t here the truth.
So missing one eye and one ear .
Maybe now…. this person will be able to listen to the truth.
More than a person that had 2 eyes and 2 ears.

    Without pain.
    Without suffering.
    We would have nothing.

  2. “Market Street near Park Boulevard”

Where the hell is that? I hung out in the East Village for a decade and never heard of these streets.

Tompkins Sq. park is the only park I know of there, and there’s no “Park Boulevard” near it. Either the yuppies are renaming streets, or this didn’t happen in the East Village.

Hopefully Angel-NYC can clue me in.

Well, I haven’t been near NYC for seven years, so anything’s possible now. It could be a whole different city by this time.

    1. I just searched a Manhattan street map, and as I suspected, there is no “Market Street” or “Park Boulevard” anywhere in or near the East Village.

These people are full of what the cat covers over, and they probably made up the whole story.

  3. Eye gouged out……………, cool! Can we have brain matter? Let’s step on that eyeball and squish the juice out of it. Or, even better, pop it in your mouth like a hard boiled egg and enjoy!

I know, let’s gouge out Charlie Sheen’s eyes and shove ’em. He wants to run for the Presidency? Imagine President Charlie Sheen. “Here Vlad, take a hit of this “killer shit”! “Then we’ll just kick back and listen to the Grateful Dead.” After that, we can kick Germany’s ass again!
