Militia group heading to Texas border

Brownsville Herald, July 5, 2014

A group that identifies itself as a coalition of “Patriots” has put out a call for people to go to the Texas-Mexico border and help with a citizen militia operation called “Secure our Border – Laredo.”

A spokeswoman for the group, Denice Freeman, said the operation is a call for civilian militia members — both armed and unarmed — to voluntarily guard private property in the Laredo area and other Texas locations where owners feel threatened by “drug cartels and from gangs, particularly the MS-13 gangs,” a Salvadoran-based gang that is considered among the most dangerous in this country by law enforcement.

Freeman said she expected militia members to become visible in border communities, including the Rio Grande Valley, in the coming weeks but she wanted to stress that the operation’s commander — Chris Davis — is warning members against using any violent means.

“This is not a ‘go-in-guns-blazing’ kind of thing,” Freeman said. “This will be handled with the utmost professionalism and security and safety for everyone involved.”

However, in a 21-minute Youtube video featuring a man who identifies himself as Cmdr. Chris Davis, the person said it’s time to secure the borders. “How?” he asked on the video. “You see an illegal. You point your gun dead at him, right between his eyes, and you say, ‘Get back across the border or you will be shot.’”

Hidalgo County Sheriff Eddie Guerra said the self-appointed militia is not needed in the Rio Grande Valley.

“We don’t need their services on our border. If we ever did I’m sure we have enough good people in Hidalgo County that I can call up,” Guerra said.

  1. Why does the ‘militia’ always pose for pics and wear camo?
You’d fit in better with blue jeans and a cowboy hat. Since camo is for blending into an environment perhaps they could try blending in. Besides people like me are more likely to fire on you if you look like a cop or military.

    1. These outfits compliment a total system, pockets for ammo, rations, first aid, the terrain requires $250.00 dollar foot wear. Also the materials are more suitable for the temperatures for the area these people are deployed in. More importantly these people are deployed for heavy infantry. You don’t wear jeans and polo shirts when deploying for heavy infantry. These guy are pros, they know what the hell they are doing.

You don’t run around with blue jeans and polo shirts while other friendly fighters are in camo. Why you ask? I guess the best way to explain this is for you to try it and see how fast you head stays attached to your body.

Also these people at times have to hunt for food. They don’t want animals pointing at their polo shirts while laughing their asses off. LOL……

I wouldn’t go around firing on guys wearing camo. Not exactly a healthy thing to do.

-If they look too “regular army” it will be to their detriment when shtf.

I was merely stating that these types of pics make the miiltia look foolish and they get no respect from the citizenry. Hell I wear olive and camo articles of clothing everyday. I dont pose for pics with my ‘fire team’ whilst, being full getty-up.

Also the part about the blue jeans was a joke.

        1. Nottobitter, the pic wasn’t one from the original source of the article. I believe Henry just put it up to convey or emphasize the title of the article since the original source did not have one.

  2. militia …all fine and good…..don’t know what to make of the pics…but can tell you this…many and I mean many of us lie in wait for the goons to come to us …then……POP you dead……’bad’ guys have no clue what is waiting for them….they have nothing to fear but…..the real nationals!!!!!!!!!!

  3. David killed goliath with a slingshot and no armor.
Maybe its more than the gear you wear or how big your firearm is?
    Something to think about.

  4. “… particularly the MS-13 gangs,” a Salvadoran-based gang that is considered among the most dangerous in this country by law enforcement.”

Probably the most profit producing gang of the bunch for the so-called ‘government’.
