When a vehicle thief refused to stop a mother’s SUV after she demanded he do so, she opened fire on him, shooting him in the head. The mother’s two toddlers were still in the back of the car at the time of the attempted carjacking and kidnapping.
The incident took place at about 10 pm in Dallas, Texas outside a Shell service station in the 100 block of West Camp Wisdom Road. The mother had gone into the gas station when a man climbed into the driver’s seat and tried to drive away, according to reporting done by NBCDFW5.
The mother immediately jumped back into the car as soon as she realized a thief was driving away with her children. She allegedly ordered the man to stop the car, police said. When he refused, she pulled a gun from the glove box and shot the man, who then drove the SUV into a utility pole thanks to his new gunshot wound.
The man has been identified by police as 36-year-old Ricky Wright. He was transported to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, even though he took a bullet to the head. He was charged with two counts of unlawful restraint and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
The mother’s quick actions could have saved the lives of her two children. Had she not been armed, this story could have very likely come out horrifyingly different.

The mother said she had just put the gun in the SUV hours before after her husband helped her with reloading. ‘I told him that I needed some bullets for my gun and he told me that he was going to go get it.’
..As he recovers the mother wanted to tell Wright something. ‘I wish I would’ve killed you, if I didn’t already,’ she said…”
Don’t leave your defenseless children in the car when you just run in for a “minute.” If you truly care about your children you’ll take the extra time to get them out of car seats, etc., and take them with you.
She’s lucky she was able to get back into the car and into the glove box. The kids are worth much more than the car, and they would have been porn stars if she didn’t save ’em.
