Nigel Farage is back at the helm for UKIP after resignation ‘rejected’

LONDON — Guess who’s back.

Nigel Farage, who resigned as head of the UKIP party on Friday, is back in the top job after his resignation was rejected by the party.

Farage made the original announcement after losing out on the South Thanet seat to the Conservatives’ Craig Mackinlay. He’d already promised to stand down within 10 minutes if he lost, and while his official resignation took a few minutes longer, it sounded pretty final.

“I have today written to UKIP’s National Executive Committee and offered my resignation. I look forward to a well deserved holiday,” he tweeted at the time.

However, his resignation has been “unanimously rejected” by UKIP’s National Executive Committee.
