Overpasses for Obama’s Impeachment group holds nationwide ‘Patriot Wave’ protest

More than a dozen protesters attended the Patriot Wave rally in Columbia, SC. The rally was organized by Overpasses for Obama's Impeachment, and was part of a nationwide protest attended by thousands of members at hundreds of locations around the country.Examiner – by DARREN POPE

Overpasses for Obama’s Impeachment, a grassroots movement founded by James Neighbors of Oklahoma in mid-June, held a nationwide protest Tuesday, which the group called the ‘Patriot Wave’, to raise awareness and force action on the myriad of scandals plaguing the Obama administration.

The Overpasses group began with a single individual, Neighbors, but now boasts more than 30,000 members nationwide. After yesterday’s rallies group organizers expect to see membership grow significantly.

Thousands of members showed up at hundreds of locations from coast to coast, taking to the nation’s overpasses to raise banners, hold up signs, and wave American flags at drivers travelling the nation’s interstates and highways. Local groups had already held dozens of local rallies before yesterday’s nationwide protest, which organizers are calling a huge success. ‘Overpasses’ plans to hold another nationwide rally on Saturday, Aug. 17, and they anticipate many more members will attend the rallies on that day.

Detractors say the group has no chance to see their goal of having Obama impeached and removed from office actually be achieved, but the vast majority of the members of OFOI disagree. They know the road ahead of them will be long, and the odds are against them, but they do believe if they can draw enough attention to President Obama’s impeachable offenses that goal can be accomplished.

The Myrtle Beach Independent Examiner attended one of the rallies, on the Harbison Blvd. overpass at I-77 in Columbia, SC. The rally kicked off at 6:30 a.m. to take advantage of morning rush hour traffic. About 15 ‘Overpasses’ members were present for that protest, with some members even bringing their children.

The response from motorists passing below the overpass, and crossing the bridge, was impressive to say the least. The sound of horns honking was nearly constant, and many drivers gave the group ‘thumbs up’, fist pumps, and could even be heard cheering from their cars. Some even slowed to take pictures and capture video of the protest. A few law enforcement vehicles even gave a short blast of their sirens as they passed. A group of US Marines stopped by at one point to give the Columbia protesters sandwiches from Chik-fil-A.

Lack of coverage, and biased coverage, of the scandals surrounding President Obama by the national media is one of the group’s chief complaints, and they believe raising awareness could even change the minds of people who currently support the [president. They are convinced that if enough people start demanding answers, it will be hard for the mainstream media to ignore events such as the terrorist attack on the US Consulate in Benghazi last year, IRS targeting of conservative groups, and recent revelations of NSA spying on American citizens

Colleen Gandy, one of the Columbia protesters told the Myrtle Beach Independent Examiner she was amazed at how little many Obama supporters know about the president and his policies, which they claim to be effective and good for the country. Gandy spoke about her visit to an Obama campaign booth at the South Carolina State fair last year before the election. “I asked them questions about why they supported Obama and they didn’t know, they couldn’t answer. They said things like, ‘he’s doing a good job’ or ‘because I like him’, but they couldn’t give specifics. They couldn’t tell me anything specific about his policies.”

By bringing attention to the scandals, and the damage the Obama administration is doing to the country with job-killing policies such as ‘Obamacare,’ Overpasses hopes to see a major sea change in the attitude of Americans who currently show little interest, which they believe is largely due to the lack of serious media coverage given to the actions of the president and his administration.

There were some drivers who obviously did not support the groups message. A few flipped ‘the bird’ at the group and yelled insults, but that was a rare occurrence. When it happened the OFOI members returned the obscenities with a smile and a friendly wave. Group organizers are careful to remind members to avoid confrontation at all times.

Heavy rain drove the group away for most of the afternoon, but a few dedicated members returned around 4 p.m. to catch late-afternoon rush hour traffic, which is fairly heavy on that stretch of I-77.

Reports from other ‘Overpasses’ protests around the country were similar to the event in Columbia. Their experiences were overwhelmingly positive, and no major incidents of any kind were reported. The most serious reports were of water bottles and other objects being thrown from a few vehicles, but no injuries were reported.

At one intersection in North Carolina a DOT road sign was hacked and was flashing ‘Impeach Obama’ as drivers passed. Many stopped to take pictures and video of the sign at the intersection of Unionville-Indian Trail and Ridge roads in Union County.

If you would like to know more about Overpasses for Obama’s Impeachment you can visit their website, or the group’s on Facebook page. There are groups in all 50 states and each state group on Facebook has local and regional groups who are organizing and announcing rallies almost daily.

  1. Just want you to know that my wife saw people doing this on an overpass yesterday coming home from work in Austin, TX. It is gaining traction around the country. Same signs saying, “Impeach Obama” and “Freedom means No Obama” and so on.

Makes you wonder who is funding and organizing these groups and why police aren’t cracking down on them like they do everything else. I mean you’d think they would use the excuse, “Well they are causing distractions that could cause car accidents on the highways and it becomes a safety issue, therefore let’s arrest them for disorderly conduct and no permit to protest”, and who knows what else.

    1. We had no problem with cops. Some were intimidated, but resisted.

“…We had a sheriff’s deputy this morning trying to say we were violating the town loitering ordinance. He eventually just went away.

But the city attorney for Campbell (WI) this afternoon called and threatened to cite anyone with any sign for a sign ordinance violation! He said he instructed all town of Campbell officers to issue citations. We called his bluff and they did nothing.”

They really can’t stop us without validating the suspension of the Constitutions of the USA and the states of Wisconsin, Illinois, Texas, Etc.
I like pissing in the NWO’s cherios!
      🙂 🙂

      1. Ya know Rumms. If they want to talk that about your signs then why don`t they bust people for celebrating halloween and their lawn ornament and not even to mention all of those christmas lights and displays. I know that I have almost crossed the centerline when I was looking at those halloween and christmas ornaments. Same difference in my way of thinking if ya`ll know what I`m sayin`

      2. Yep, this is the kind of excuses and shit I expected the cops to say in order to arrest or fine people. All they have these days is their Penis codes, I mean Penal codes. (Sorry Freudian slip there) Those are their new laws now. That is how they run the country and enforce the laws. Not the Constitution or Bill of Rights. HANG ‘EM ALL!!! Including the Sheriffs who don’t have the balls to stand up to the tyranny or hire the townspeople to be deputized for help.

Glad you called their bluff, Rhums and everything went well.

        1. Sorry, that was a quote of a guy in Campbell. The point is the City Attorny issued arrest chits and the cops REFUSED to bust anyone.
And we all know if the cops wanted to they could have had a field day.
The only time I’ve seen cops is at the Capital song fests. The biggest MSM to carry the story was WPR. Possibly NPR will pick it up from there but I’m not holding my breath.

  2. Aw Rumms. God post, was that you with that shirt ” Seen it all, Heard it all , did it all, Now it can`t remember it all” 🙂 .Anyway Something has to get started and started soon eh buddy. I am not looking forward to it as I am older with health prob.s but no way can we cannot back down from this deceitful lien` govt we have had to deal with for so many years. Time for being nice about it with them – the govt. – has about come to a end.

    1. 🙂 busted!

Funding is all out of pocket by the protesters! Yes, there is a national leader, but no fund at this point.

  3. IMPEACHMENT: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW, AND DON’T NEED TO KNOW
    1. It is NOT necessary that the President, other officers in the executive branch, or federal judges commit a crime before they may be impeached & removed from office.
Federalist Paper No. 66 (2nd para) and Federalist No. 77 (last para) show that the President may be impeached & removed for encroachments, i.e., usurpation’s of power.
Federal judges may also be impeached & removed for usurpations of power (Federalist No. 81, 8th para).
Throughout The Federalist Papers, it is stated that impeachment is for “political offenses.”
    2. The House has the SOLE power of impeachment (Art. I, Sec. 2, last clause). The Senate has the SOLE power to try all impeachments (Art. I, Sec. 3, next to last clause). The decision to convict is not reviewable by any other body – and common sense tells us what that means! The House may impeach, and the Senate may convict, for any reason whatsoever; and their decision cannot be overturned.
    3. The meaning of “Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors”at Art. II, Sec. 4, is far broader than one might at first glance think. Somewhere I saw a scholarly paper showing that the “high” refers to the status of the official – it does not refer to the severity of the offense.
Now, note well! Misdemeanor” has a broader meaning than “a lesser category of criminal offense.” Webster’s 1828 Dictionary shows the primary meaning is: “Ill behavior; evil conduct; fault; mismanagement.”
This shows that a President, Vice-president, and all civil Officers and Judges of the United States may be impeached, tried, convicted, and removed from office for “mismanagement.”
    4. Errant members of Congress are never impeached – they are expelled (Art. I, Sec. 5, cl. 2).
    5. Military personnel are never impeached – they are court-martialed (see UCMJ – Uniform Code of Military Justice), and may be kicked out of the military.
    6. It is not feasible to criminally prosecute, under federal law, a sitting President: his prosecutors, the Attorney General and the U.S. Attorneys, all serve at the President’s pleasure. He can fire anyone who dares to criminally prosecute him. That is why sitting Presidents who have committed federal crimes must first be removed from office via impeachment, then be criminally prosecuted. (Federalist No. 69, 4th para).
But do not forget: A President may – and should – be impeached & removed for usurpation’s of power, mismanagement, incompetence, or for any other reason deemed sufficient by Congress.
The lawful methods of getting rid of a sitting President [whether eligible or not to hold the office], in addition to impeachment, are set forth in the 25th Amendment: Natural death, resignation, or inability to do the job.
The 22nd Amendment permits Congress to make laws providing for succession where a President elect has not qualified
Do not spin your wheels in fruitless insistence that a person (who may still be an Indonesian national) who occupies the office of President can’t be impeached because he is ineligible to hold that office. The FACT is that he holds the office. Impeachment is a lawful & constitutional method to rid ourselves of this blight.
