In a letter delivered to “the politicians” of the United States, an active duty Army Special Forces soldier delivers a jaw dropping assessment of the situation at hand.

Anyone familiar with me knows that after my time in the service I have a soft spot for the Army Special Forces. So when a triple amputee, who was charged by the VA for services, finds a letter from an active duty Special Forces soldier to the US politicians, it is enough to peak my interest.   Continue reading “Army Special Forces Soldier Delivers Jaw Dropping Letter to US Politicians”

The U.S. Border Patrol purchased body cameras and will begin testing them this year at its training academy, two people briefed on the move said Wednesday, as new leadership moves to blunt criticism about agents’ use of force.

R. Gil Kerlikowske, who has led the Border Patrol’s parent agency since March, announced the plans Tuesday to a small group of activists who have pressed for cameras, according to a person who attended the briefing and spoke on condition of anonymity because the discussion was intended to be private. Testing will occur at the Border Patrol academy in Artesia, New Mexico.   Continue reading “APNewsBreak: Border Patrol to Test Body Cameras”

Antenna analyzers are useful for adjusting and tweaking antenna systems for the best match at the frequency you are operating at.  Z-Man and I showed the models we use at the classes in Wisconsin and Wyoming.  They are different from an SWR meter as they don’t require you to key up your radio into an unknown antenna system, and risk blowing up the transmit final amplifier in your rig.  If you are working with improvised and field expedient antennas, your commo section needs one of these.   Continue reading “As Seen At Wyoming & Wisconsin Classes: Antenna Analyzers”

In 1810, you could buy three gallons of whiskey for just a dollar. Today that will get you a shot from a bottle you bought yourself. Inflation sucks, right?

While you can get a snack or download an app for a buck, one dollar used to go a lot further — we’re talking 10 cans of soup, an ounce of silver, four pounds of sirloin steak and two pounds of coffee.   Continue reading “What $1 Used to Get You vs. What It Buys You Today”

Guerilla Warfare Tactics

One of the most enduring explanations for why the confederacy lost the Civil War asserts that the Rebels were too democratic. First proposed by David H. Donald as a variation on a theme by Frank L. Owsley, it has survived, with some modification by recent scholars, as a viable part of most multicausal explanations of Confederate defeat. To date, the argument has rested largely on the supposed political blunders of the central government, in its indelicate handling of issues that infringed on personal liberties or that injured the sensibilities of powerful state politicians, to demonstrate the disruptive effect of Confederate individualism. Scotland votes on independence from the United Kingdom [today]. I’ll be rooting very hard for a yes vote.

The primary reason I strongly support Scottish independence is because it will serve as a beautiful illustration of how civilized unions respond when a geographic territory votes to secede. During all the debate leading up to the vote, no one has suggested that England should or will invade Scotland to keep them in the United Kingdom. A military invasion is, in fact, unthinkable.   Continue reading “Free Scotland!”

At Lakewood Church, Joel Osteen proclaims,”It’s God’s will for you to live in prosperity instead of poverty.” The pastor of the Houston megachurch and wife Victoria certainly practice what they preach.

The couple has moved to a $10.5 million mansion in River Oaks, while keeping their former Tanglewood residence, valued at $2.9 million.

They are, however, selling a vacant lot next to their former home. Asking price for the half-acre property at the corner of Doliver and Sherbrooke: $1.1 million. Martha Turner Properties has the listing.   Continue reading “After move to $10.5 million River Oaks mansion, Joel Osteen offers Tanglewood land for $1.1 million”

Dr. Jane Orient, Executive Director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, reported that the government has been “real tight-lipped” about the mysterious respiratory illness that has struck children in the United States, expressed concern that the illegal immigrant minors from Central America could be the source, and argued that the government should devote more resources to border security to combat the spread of disease on Wednesday’s “Laura Ingraham Show.”    Continue reading “Doctor: Gov’t ‘Tight-Lipped’ on Respiratory Virus, May be From Illegals”

Suspected of robbing at least 15 banks in the past year, a man dubbed the “El Chapparito Bandit” is being sought by federal and local authorities who released a sketch of the thief on Tuesday and are offering $20,000 for information leading to his arrest and conviction.

A San Diego Police Department sketch artist produced an image based on witness testimony and security images of El Chapparito. On Tuesday, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted to spend $2.1 million over the next two years so that illegal immigrants in the city can have lawyers for fast-tracked deportation proceedings, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Over 2,000 juveniles or parents with children are waiting for those proceedings.

The Syracuse University Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse, analyzing information gleaned from courts, asserted that more than 25,000 deportation proceedings are waiting to be processed in San Francisco. By the beginning of July, 4,100 involved juveniles, 2,200 of whom have no lawyers. The university added that in recent years, 10% of illegal immigrant children without legal representation were given permission to stay in the United States, while 50% of those who had lawyers wound up staying legally.   Continue reading “SF Gives OK to Legal Aid for Illegal Immigrant Kids”

WASHINGTON, D.C. —  The House voted to provide the Obama administration the authority to arm and train Syrian rebels to fight against ISIS Wednesday, despite the widespread concern that the strategy might not work.

The authorization passed 273-156.

The legislation provides the Obama administration the authority to give arms and training to “vetted elements” of the Syrian opposition to fight against ISIS, requires the Secretary of Defense to brief Congress on the plan 15 days in advance and mandates a status report every 90 days. The amendment explicitly denies authority for ground troops.   Continue reading “Syria Authorization Passes Despite Doubts in Strategy”

U.S. Department of Homeland (DHS) Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, while testifying before a House panel today, indicated that the government’s ability to detect terrorists inside the homeland is hindered by sanctuary cities that shelter illegals.

Johnson added that America must remain vigilant of the extremist group Islamic State, also known as ISIS and ISIL, or other terrorists potential infiltrating the U.S. through its southern border, adding that his department could use more resources to prevent that from becoming a reality.     Continue reading “DHS Chief: Ability to Detect Terrorists in U.S. Hindered by Illegal Population”

The debate about military gear being provided for free to U.S. police forces continues. Critics warn that the Pentagon’s program which has provided more than $5 billion worth of military equipment to civilian police forces since 1990 has further fueled the “militarization” of police. The equipment has included everything from MRAPS to sniper rifles to medical kits and helicopters.

In Canada, the flow of equipment is much less – mainly confined to armoured personnel carriers.   Continue reading “Why would police need 12,000 bayonets?”

A Virginia company is developing a radar gunlike device that would help police catch drivers as they text.

The technology works by detecting the telltale radio frequencies that emit from a vehicle when someone inside is using a cellphone, said Malcolm McIntyre of ComSonics. Cable repairmen use similar means to find where a cable is damaged – from a rodent, for instance – by looking for frequencies leaking in a transmission, McIntyre said.   Continue reading “New device in the works to catch texting drivers”

Military experts believe a mystery object spotted streaking across the sky over the US was a Russian spy satellite.

More than three dozen witnesses reported seeing a bright object that broke apart into three “rocks” with glowing red and orange streaks as it moved northward over the Rocky Mountains on September 2.

Russia has denied claims that the fireball spotted at 10.30pm was a piece of the Cosmos 2495 satellite, which was designed to shoot reconnaissance photos and send them back to Earth in capsules.    Continue reading “Fireball Was Russian Spy Satellite, Experts Say”

Forty-six percent of doctors give President Obama’s healthcare law a “D” or an “F,” according to a new survey from the Physicians Foundation. In contrast, just 25 percent of those surveyed gave the law an “A” or a “B.”

The findings come from a survey that was emailed to “virtually every physician in the United States with an email address on record with the American Medical Association” this March through June as the law’s major provisions were taking effect, and received more than 20,000 responses from doctors.   Continue reading “46 percent of doctors give Obamacare a ‘D’ or ‘F’”

The hit and run driver that struck Dulcie Canton on her bike in Bushwick last month was caught on video and seen by a witness. The side view mirror that broke off the vehicle during the collision helped Canton identify the car that hit her. Though Canton’s attorney sent three letters to the 83rd Precinct imploring officers to investigate her case, they have not questioned the alleged driver. Last night the precinct commander gave an explanation as to why they’ve ignored Canton’s case: she hasn’t contacted them.    Continue reading “Bushwick Cops Crack Down On Cyclists, Neglect To Investigate Hit & Run Driver”
