Patrol car spontaneously combusts, grass clippings blamed

Orlando Sentinel – by Adrienne Cutway

Deputies in Clay County are looking for who or what caused a patrol car to catch on fire, and right now, their main suspect is the freshly cut grass the car was parked on.

The so-called spontaneous combustion happened Saturday in Orange Park while the deputy was parked on the side of the road during a traffic stop.

The car burst into flames seemingly without cause while the deputy was inside. An investigation is underway but no foul play is suspected. Instead, authorities believe the freshly cut grass beneath the car got too hot when it touched the vehicle’s undercarriage and sparked the fire.

The deputy wasn’t seriously injured but was taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor smoke inhalation.

        1. Ha Paula, that pig was probobly just making some of that “shake and bake” meth and it started a fire. Of course the cop may have had a gas attack and lit a match LOL.

          1. Now Digger, surely you don’t think one of our “finest” would have a mobile meth lab in their cruiser, do you?? They would “never” do anything like use a taser on someone, or kill a 107 year old man, or a 90 something in Chicago nursing home, or hit a couple on a motorcycle, or shoot some family pets, now would they??? Why Digger, how could you think such a thing!! (please note these comments are dripping with sarcasm!)
