Washington Post – by Lynh BuiA dump truck driver was arrested Wednesday after police say he intentionally rammed two police cruisers at a Glenarden shopping center.
No one was hurt and no officers were in the cruisers at the time of the incident, which Prince George’s County police said occurred at the Woodmore Towne Center just off Interstate 95 and Landover Road.
The incident began a little before noon as two patrol officers were outside a Costco planning to refill fluids in the cruisers when there was a “brief exchange of words” with the driver of the dump truck, said Lt. William Alexander, a police spokesman.
It’s unclear what the man — who police said was unprovoked — said to officers through the window of his truck, Alexander said. But the officers believe it was a “negative conversation” and “they’re alert to the fact that this guy doesn’t seem happy to police,” Alexander said.
Shortly after, the dump truck crashed into the parked cruisers, with the truck eventually coming to rest on a police car, crumpling its rear end, Alexander said.
After the crash, the driver of the dump truck got out and confronted the officers.
“His initial stance is very aggressive coming out of that dump truck and his intention was likely to attack the officers,” Alexander said. The officers “showed great restraint and they were able to arrest the driver without incident.”
Police have not released the driver’s name. Alexander said given the recentslayings of two police officers in New York and anti-police sentiment around the nation, police are investigating the incident but could not yet detail an exact motive.
It is “very troubling and traumatic,” Alexander said. “Obviously we’re very concerned about the nature of this. We don’t yet know why he had in his mind that he was going to intentionally try and hurt some of our officers.”
The man faces first-degree assault and related charges, Alexander said.

I can not figure out what the problem is here? I have had the police park on my private property on top of things. On purpuse and called the police about them. And they can never see a problem with there parking. Many time now that I think about it. So what is there complaint about him parking on there property? If they are allowed to park on private property doing damage at will then they have set the exampe for all to follow I would think.
So now its “ASSAULT” if you hit their cars?

The man is guilty of vandalism, and nothing more, but what’s encouraging is that attacks against the police are becoming a daily event. That IS your revolution in its early stages. Cops are the arm of the government that comes in direct contact with the people, and that’s why they’re always the first targets. This is the snowball, just beginning to roll down the hill.

doesn’t really tell what words were exchanged or why, that led him to do what he did. other than they (cops) showed great restraint and the guy was arrested without further incidence. huhn? boy, would I love to know what really transpired. or should I even buy this story by either side. with the way our media is always slanted, I wouldn’t know the truth if I saw it. thanks media whores, you finally out did yourselves.
Maybe the driver of the truck has tourettes and had a seizure at the time of the accident.
