You gotta love Ray Stevens!! I remember the days of
the “streakers”, and his song, The Streak….I always worked in the construction industry as an estimator in those days and my office was
in a field office directly on a large construction site in Tampa. It was
pretty unusual for a female to be working in that capacity in the 70’s.
I will never forget the day one of the men,(they called him “Animal” if that tells you anything) who was on a crew on that job
running around the job site, streaking!! Because I was respected by the men on the job, they had told he had better stay away from my office.
He did.
But quite frankly, I found it rather comical that he had steaked
the job site, but was flattered that the other men were concerned about
me being offended.

so do I
at the time, I was back in my home town in montana of less than 1000
people and when this song was out and popular
there was certainly a streak…al but under the street lights and after midnight…..right past my friends mainstreet bar…No i did not witness that…did become aware of it and the story is true….
and there you have a bit of Ray Stevens…………god he has had so many songs that made it big…………..he is a one of kind like Roger Miller……
