Texas drivers scoop ‘free money’ on Interstate 20

BBC

Drivers in Weatherford, Texas have had a surprise windfall after a large sum of banknotes were blown across Interstate 20.

Joel Aldridge, 46, filmed the slow-moving traffic on his mobile phone, thinking there had been an accident. But he soon spotted a number of people carrying handfuls of money.

Mr Aldridge, whose younger brother is serving a prison sentence for bank robbery, did not stop to collect some of the notes for himself.

In a statement, Weatherford Police Department confirmed that “a substantial amount of cash” had fallen from an armoured truck in the area, and that they “strongly encouraged” anyone who had collected some of the money to return it to the police.
