This Driver Was Astonished When She Opened This Moving Trash Bag In The Road

True Activist – by Brianna Acuest

Malissa Sergent Lewis, a school teacher in Kentucky, was running late to work on Thursday and decided to take a shortcut through a backroad on the way to school. It was then that she saw something she wasn’t expecting on the side of the road. Lewis told The Dodo,

“I saw this trash bag in the road, and I thought to myself, ‘Did I just see that bag move?’ The closer I got, I realized it was moving. I could hardly wrap my mind around that. Something was alive in that bag, and I just knew I had to get whatever it was out.”

Since she didn’t know if there was a wild animal in the bag, she carefully tore off a corner rather than fiddling with the knot at the top, and was shocked to discover what was inside.

“It was a puppy. And he sure was glad to see me. As soon as I opened it up, and he saw light, he just started wagging his tail. He knew he was okay. I couldn’t believe it.”

Oddly enough, the puppy was wearing a collar, although there was no tag on it to identify the owner. Because there was a collar, some suspect that the puppy might have been stolen and then cruelly left to die by the dognapper. Whether it was the owner or a dognapper, nothing changes the fact that this is an unjustifiable crime committed by a human against another living being.

Lewis was still running late, so she put the puppy in her lap and continued her drive to school, where she had her son drive by and pick him up. They later took him to the vet and, despite the cruelty and trauma he experienced, the puppy seemed happy and healthy. Lewis asked the question we’re all wondering:

“Who could do something like that to any animal? I don’t care who you are; everybody loves puppies. It’s a real cold-hearted person to put an animal, any animal, in a garbage bag and dump it on the side of the road. They had bad, bad intentions doing that.”

If you have an unwanted animal, there are tons of options for safely relocating or rehoming them. There is never a reason to attempt to murder, or actually kill, any animal that people no longer want or can care for.

Fortunately for the puppy, his rescuer is now going to be his mom. Since they suspected no owner would come forward to claim him, Lewis and her family took him into their home so that he can be with them forever. As a tribute to his origins, they’ve considered naming him Hefty. Lewis said this of his future:

“We all love the puppy. He’s going to be loved, and have a good home with us. I’m just glad I was in the right place at the right time to save him. That’s what it was.”

We’re so glad that for every person that engages in cruel acts against animals, there are whole families like the Lewis family there to make things right.

  1. Man and Woman’s best friend.
We really underestimate and take for granted the milestones that dogs have helped in the evolution of man.
Already one of my dogs has saved me from being bitten by a rattle snake.
    I love my dogs…
They protect me and if there is anything within a quarter mile of me they’ll let me know.
They’re really some of the best friends I’ve had in my life.
    They don’t judge me.
One of the few things I can trust in this fked up world.

  2. Idiots

Can’t wait for karma or Darwin to come for them

Agree with you flee, my dogs have kept me safe and alert
Most loyal animal I’ve ever known
Here’s a test to see who’s more loyal
    Your spouse or your dog

Lock them both in a box all day
And than open the door , see which ones still happy to see you
( not really advocating doing this )

Just the other day , my dog let me know there was a new animal on my property
And he would not let up until I followed him out so he could show me .. As if to say , “Dad I am doing my job protecting your home while your away and I know everything that goes on while your gone “

  3. It is disgusting what some people do to the helpless in society.
Kind of like people in government.
It could have just as well been a child in the bag.

  4. I used to live by an animal abuser in Oregon. He shot all the cats in the neighborhood and eventually his own dogs. Then he would go out and get more dogs to repeat the cycle and some of them were purebreds and nice dogs. Hell awaits for those types.

    1. “He shot all the cats in the neighborhood…”

Had the POS shot my cat, he’d have been answering to the business end of a Louisville Slugger.

He’d never see it coming, either.

  5. Acts of deliberate cruelty toward animals, all of whom are innocent, are worthy of death IMO. The world would be far better off without scum who do such things.

It’s one thing to hunt for food, varmint control, or another valid reason with humane kills being the objective. But needlessly and intentionally causing pain to any presumably sentient creature is unforgivable and marks the perpetrator as a cowardly piece of subhuman filth who ought to thrown into a den of lions.

  6. “There is never a reason to attempt to murder, or actually kill, any animal…”

The pigs always seem to ‘find’ a reason, though, don’t they.

    And get away with it.

  7. I started to watch a video of a girl with a five gallon bucket of puppies, but I realized that she was throwing each one into the river. It sickened me. No regard for life even at such a young age.
