Two Louisiana police officers were shot and wounded early on Saturday when a suspect opened fire on them, police said.

A bullet grazed the head of one Baton Rouge police officer, and the other was struck in the side, The Advocate newspaper reported. Both are expected to survive.

The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. CST when police responded to a call concerning property damage, the Baton Rouge Police Department said in a statement. The suspect fled in a car to his home nearby. He got out and fired several shots at the officers with a rifle, police said.

“Both officers sustained gunshot wounds but were able to return gunfire striking the suspect,” police said.

The officers and suspect were taken to a hospital with critical injuries, police said.

The officers involved will be placed on paid administrative leave under standard procedure, police said. The department’s release did not indicate the condition of the suspect.

  1. Isn’t the number like 5 or 6 cops shot and killed this week alone?
You’d think they’d figure it out
But I guess when the highest IQ in the bunch is 50 I guess I’m expecting too much

Everyone knows all they have done lately is kill when they show up , maybe it’s finally registering with the sheeple that it’s a jungle out there and no one has your back anymore
    Especially the police
If they show up , Someone is getting either shot or beat , so why put up with it anymore ,is more than likely how it’s going to be from here on out
Everyone’s fed up and afraid of them
And this is the outcome . I’m not saying this like its a good thing , because I think it’s just going to lead to more clamp down not any back off
So escalation is the only other possibility , we know that’s just more fuel on the fire

    1. Yup. People are finally starting to figure it out, EotS.

Unfortunately, these two scumbags survived, but at least the intent was appreciated.

Helluva long way to go to even up the score, however.

    2. My understanding is the cop test has a max limit, on the high side – that is, people score too high they are not accepted.

Unsure how widely this is practiced, if even accurate.

  2. “He got out and fired several shots at the officers with a rifle, police said.”

    Define “several”.

What the hell was he using, a bolt action??? Any decent semi-auto should have been able to unload a full mag (30) on them.

  3. Only wounded..? Hmmmmm.
Goddamint peoples. .. what part of aim for the nuts don’t you
    fcking people understand!!!!
That headshot stuff is Hollywood bllsht.
    See what you get.
    Those two asssholes survived.

    1. Actually, at close range headshots are the best way to go. It’s the only way to guarantee an immediate stop. Even hitting your opponent in the heart can allow him to continue shooting back at you for up to ten seconds. And that’s assuming he’s not wearing torso armor that can stop your rounds.

The pelvis is a good first area to target at longer ranges, especially when the opponent is moving. Armor usually doesn’t cover it, and it’s easier to hit than the head. Once the opponent is “anchored” with a hit to the pelvis, he can be finished off with a headshot or more shots to the lower body.

Regardless of one’s opinion on this, we all need to practice, practice, and then practice some more. A good standard to strive for is being able to hit a paper plate at 50 yards with a handgun using slow fire, and being able to keep most of one’s shots on a paper plate at 25 yards during rapid fire.
