In the brief I got before I went to Afghanistan was that in 2007 by some act of government, for the first time in their history, foreign interests could have ownership in the Afghan national bank. I looked around the room and no one understood the significance of that. The guy giving the class didn’t even understand what he was saying. What a bunch of zombies. All they cared about was the money they were promised. I guess this is what they mean by “bringing democracy to…”, fill in the blank.
