BUCKLEY, Wash. — A local man featured on a reality show about preparing for the end of the world as we know it is now in a local jail.

Tyler Smith of Buckley has been featured on the National Geographic Channel show Doomsday Preppers.

Smith was arrested on charges of illegal firearms possession.  He was picked up on a warrant Wednesday morning and booked into the Pierce County Jail.

Smith is the leader of the survivalist group Spartan Survival. He founded the organization in 2005 to train and prepare others for various doomsday scenarios.

Smith was prohibited from possessing firearms when the show was filmed. Sheriff’s deputies saw Smith loading and firing two rifles on an episode of “Doomsday Preppers” and investigated.

Smith is a felon from a first-degree theft conviction and also was convicted of communicating with a minor for immoral purposes in 2009.

“His stated plan was not to defend himself but to use weapons he illegally possessed, to rob his neighbors at gunpoint,” Sheriff Paul Pastor said of the show. “Did he really think that this wouldn’t attract our attention ?

“I commend our detectives for calmly and professionally dealing with Mr. Smith and holding him accountable.”

  1. Looks like captain double stuff of the merry band of portable bullet stops should’ve stayed in his mother’s basement and played video games…….tough break for such a fat and fearless predator.

Anyone have a chance to capitalize on ol’ double stuff’s brilliant idea of bathroom tile body armor and duck tape?

  2. Mr. Smith paid his dues and felon or not- that is in the passt – and his bill of rights are restored to own and to bear arms and them DG feds are wrong. Them feds are enemies against the Bill Of Rights damn it. Mr. Smith did his time and his rights are restord – unless of course he is under commie rule and double jeapordy like some have decided to be bended over and submitted to being punked by the govt. now days. !!! 🙁 🙁 :(: 👿 😎

    1. I really don’t give a rat’s ars if he paid his dues or not. Also, I could care less what he did in his past. I do agree that unalienable rights can never be taken away.

However, this fat-assed moron stated on a national t.v program that he and his merry band of portable bullet stops have the intent to commit acts of violence and thefts against their fellow Americans just like “Them feds are enemies against the Bill Of Rights damn it.”

To me, there’s no difference between captain double stuff and “Them feds are enemies against the Bill Of Rights damn it.” One runs their mouth like a blithering idiot on a national t.v. show and the other hides behind color of law and enjoys the monopoly on force.

Both deserve scorn and ridicule until the time comes where unconstitutional force must be met with constitutional force.

      1. This guy is not one of us. He is an asshole who thought he could put together an armed gang and attack those who had prepared and kill them to take what they had stored.
        Good riddance to bad rubbish.

          1. He may not be one of us, but the law is the law, and lets let the puke hang his immoral ass we know what he is about and he will hang his immoral dumb ass all by his self. Sounds like you got a problem with me crawford!! Soundslike you talk like a lot of cops that I know that went out of their way to fill their quota – you one of them ??? cause you do remind me of one of them sssss grrrr. 😯

        1. Agreed, Henry. I watched the show Once, saw him make the statement (more than once in the show) about taking from others who had more than him, and Never watched again. He gives a bad name to “preppers.” Good riddance.

      2. Haven`t seen ya here before. Ya been layin` back in the weeds crawford or should I say atouk ssss. You must belive in double jeapordy eh atouk – oops, I mean crawford my glorified mistake atouk/ crawford !!! Haven`t seen ya here before. who are you who who are you the who 😎 Sounds like you believe in being charged twice for the same charge – double jeapordy eh crowford ssss grrrr

  3. and also was convicted of communicating with a minor for immoral purposes in 2009. Sorry, as Henry said, “he is not one of us”. You touch a kid and I am around…well, never mind.

  4. On the one hand, the law preventing him from owning a firearm is illegal.

On the other hand, if he is stupid enough to announce his intentions to rob others with firearms in a public forum (idiot box), not only should he not be allowed to own any guns, but he should also be prevented (by whatever means necessary) from ever breeding.

  5. I am sure several preppers in this fool’s home town have near the top of their to-do list is to dispatch this dangerous bum. The difference is they won’t announce their intentions, unlike this fool who has invited his own shooting.

  6. The guy is a tub of lard and pretend prepper. I agree with digger about his gun rights. Only God can take them away. He will fold like a pair of deuces when the shit hits the fan. If not, as Mick said, the good folks in his town are already planning on dealing with the scum. Fools like him give the movement a really bad name. To any who feel as double stuff does, good luck and bring everyone. You will need them.
