Caleb Thomas Schwab was killed Sunday when his ride on the world’s tallest water slide turned deadly. Caleb was the son of Rep. Scott Schwab and his wife, Michele.
The boy was killed on the world’s largest water slide near Kansas City.
Now this…
Witnesses said Caleb was decapitated.
6 ABC reported:
A witness to the tragic death of a 10-year-old boy on the world’s tallest water slide in Kansas has revealed gruesome details of how the boy died.
Caleb Thomas Schwab, the son of Kansas State Rep. Scott Schwab, was killed Sunday while riding “Verruckt” at Schlitterbahn Waterpark in Kansas City.
The slide is 168 feet tall and has 264 stairs leading to the top – taller than the Statue of Liberty. The slide’s name means “insane” in German.
ABC News talked with Esteban Castaneda, who witnessed the incident at the water park. He described a horrific scene after the boy’s death.
Castaneda said that he heard booms coming from the area of the slide, and then saw a body wash down the slide directly after the raft did.
Castaneda said he noticed a lifeguard was trying to push the crowd back from the slide, but he continued to try to help because he thought there was someone lying face down in the water.
The lifeguard told Castaneda there was nothing he could do to help. It was at that point that he noticed the boy appeared to have been decapitated.
Castaneda said two other woman were strapped into the raft, and the first position of the raft was empty. This is likely where Caleb had been sitting.
Very tragic indeed. I wonder if foul play was involved. How does this happen, and the article was very vague imo.
I looked up some photos of the slide and it appears impossible to have an accident like this.
Something STRANGE IS AFOOT.
“The slide’s name means “insane” in German.”
Appropriate… considering this…
“… the boy appeared to have been decapitated.”
It’s a water slide. There can be nothing sharp enough to decapitate anyone of any age anywhere within it, or it would have happened LONG before now.
Like Katie said… strange, to say the very least.
I wonder if his parents stepped on the wrong toes.
The last roller coaster ride I was ever on was at Six Flags Over Texas, and when I got off that S.O.B., I swore that I’d never get on another one – and I haven’t.
I can still remember how the track had a huge dip and a curve that, from the top of the peak of the track, looking down – you could see a tree that had a huge limb sticking out over the track and from the angle at the top – it looked like it would take off the heads of everyone in the coaster as it passed under the limb. It was an illusion, though – and the coaster car had several feet of clearance – but it sure did scare the crap out of me and everyone else in the coaster car. The park designers probably left the tree there, to add to the ‘thrill and excitement’ and to boost the sales of a clean, unsoiled pair of underwear at the concession stand nearest to where the ride ended.
Well, I didn’t see the humor in it, and vowed to never get on another roller coaster.
“scare the crap out of me and everyone else in the coaster car. ”
The very thing you payed $$ for to experience…

So where did the head go?
“two other woman were strapped into the raft, and the first position of the raft was empty. This is likely where Caleb had been sitting.”
First head witnesses?
