The House version of the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) set aside an irresponsibly large amount of money for military spending, but it also added some antiwar amendments and other very basic limitations. The House and Senate versions have now been reconciled into a final bill, and materially all of the limitations that the House voted on and approved have been stripped away, in favor of a $738 billion bill that continues spending, but makes no attempt to rein in the military in any serious way. President Trump will sign an executive order on Wednesday designed to target anti-Semitism on college campuses, the New York Times reported on Tuesday evening.

One police officer has been killed and two others injured during a dramatic hourslong shootout and standoff Tuesday in Jersey City, New Jersey, prosecutors said, as SWAT teams and federal agents rushed to the neighborhood.
Two suspects, one male and one female, both described as juveniles, also were shot, while a third, described as a black male wearing all black, remained on the loose, a federal law enforcement source told Fox News. A county library in north-western China has been criticised for burning books in line with a nationwide cull of “illegal” or “improper” materials used in school libraries.
Reports and photos of two women burning a pile of books outside the Zhenyuan county library in Gansu province emerged at the weekend. According to Chinese media, an article on the county’s website detailed a “removal and destruction” cleanup at the end of October, focusing on illegal, religious, and biased books. Ronald S. Lauder, the cosmetics billionaire and president of the World Jewish Congress, is setting aside $25 million of his own money to start a new organization devoted to rooting out what he sees as the growing tide of anti-Semitism in American politics.
Mr. Lauder is a longtime Republican donor, but he said he planned to use the organization to go after both Democrats and Republicans who traffic in anti-Semitic language and tropes. The effort, to be called the Anti-Semitism Accountability Project, or A.S.A.P, will consist of both a nonprofit and a super PAC, with Mr. Lauder as the final arbiter of which politicians will be targeted for defeat.

London (CNN Business)Amazon has removed a number of Christmas ornaments featuring images of the Auschwitz concentration camps from sale, amid anger from the museum that manages the site.

The embattled Prime Minister wants Washington to approve of Israel’s further expansion into the Jordan Valley, just days after he urged Donald Trump not to miss a rare chance to back Tel Aviv’s territorial appetites.
Benjamin Netanyahu, who fiercely fights for re-election, believes that “the time has come to extend Israeli sovereignty over the Jordan Valley,” a swath of land spanning between the occupied West Bank and neighboring Kingdom of Jordan. On their part, Israel’s closest ally should give a final nod to the move. MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) – On Friday, chief executive of Mexican state oil company Pemex, Octavio Romero Oropeza, announced the discovery of a giant crude oil deposit in the southeastern Mexican state of Tabasco with confirmed crude oil reserves equivalent to 500 million barrels.
“We can confirm the existence of a giant deposit equivalent to 500 million barrels of crude oil in a 3P reserve”, Romero Oropeza said as quoted by the newspaper Financiero.
