Riding share company Lyft announced a major effort to help illegal immigrants across the country when they donated $200,000 to groups that support migrants.
The decision was first announced just ahead of the Fourth of July where Lyft declared, “America is an idea, not a geography.” According to Breitbart, Lyft will match up to $50,000 in donations to Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES) and will be giving out $150,000 in ride credits. Once again, responding to a horrendous crime by inflicting knee-jerk, authoritarian restrictions on innocent people proves to be an ineffective means of convincing people to obey. Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday tweeted that the Palestinians’ connection to the Land of Israel is nothing compared to the 4,000 year connection that the Jewish people have with the land. In what is being described as the first cancellation of its kind, a European association of mental health researchers has cancelled plans to hold a conference in Israel, “over fears of a backlash from the international boycott movement”.
According to Israeli newspaper Haaretz, the decision by the European Network for Mental Health Service Evaluation (ENMESH) “is the first time that an organisation of this kind has walked back on an already approved decision to hold a conference in Israel”. The Golden Eagle might be classified as “stable,” but environmentalists are nonetheless celebrating the bird’s return to the Santa Monica mountains after a nearly 30-year hiatus. While conducting a survey on nearby private land, a consultant found a nest containing two chicks.
After identifying the newborn raptors, the consultant notified scientists at the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. The scientists teamed up with eagle experts at the U.S. Geological Survey and Bloom Biological Inc. They then confirmed the rare nest located high in a remote, rocky cave. Disgraced US billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, arrested on fresh sex-trafficking charges Saturday, was injected into Israel’s political scrum Sunday, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu highlighting Epstein’s alleged connection to rival Ehud Barak.
Epstein, a wealthy hedge fund manager who once counted as friends former US President Bill Clinton, Great Britain’s Prince Andrew, and US President Donald Trump, was taken into federal custody Saturday and is expected to appear Monday in Manhattan federal court, according to law enforcement officials. Although the police have not given any details as to exactly what it was in the speech that was offensive, it is clear to party leader Gustav Kasselstrand that this is “political harassment”, pointing out that it is the police themselves who have reported him for “hate speech” while he was merely holding a political speech. Despite losing in the United States Supreme Court, the state of Indiana is still arguing that there are virtually no eighth amendment limits on what it can seize using civil asset forfeiture, according to Reason.
In fact, Indiana Solicitor General Thomas Fisher argued in Indiana Supreme Court last week that it would be constitutional to seize any and every car that exceeded the speed limit. The woman, identified only as Jane Doe in the lawsuit was pregnant and went into labor hours after she was unnecessarily arrested on February 7, 2018. Austin officials are facing a major backlash after a vote that would permit the city’s homeless population to sleep or camp in any public area — with few exceptions, such as City Hall.
