Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador told Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Friday to pass the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), which awaits a vote in the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives.

President Donald Trump announced the USMCA one year ago, after extensive negotiations with both Canada and Mexico. The trade deal will replace the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which Trump has long criticized and which he promised to replace. In what looks like a dry run of the looming pension crisis facing corporate America, GE said on Monday that it would freeze pension plan benefits for 20,000 American employees with salaried benefits, WSJ reports. The Court of Justice of the European Union has ruled that EU governments can order Facebook to take down content worldwide after an Austrian politician was insulted online.

Eva Glawischnig-Piesczek, a leading figure in Austria’s left-progressive Greens Party, was branded a “lousy traitor of the people” and a “corrupt oaf”, among other things, in an Austrian news article concerning her party’s support for a minimum income for refugees which was shared on a Facebook user’s personal page, according to court documents. Former President George H.W Bush shut down the U.S. embassy in 1991 following overthrow of then-President Siad Barre’s military regime, which led to decades of civil war and unrest. The Federal Reserve Bank of New York first initiated its emergency overnight loans to Wall Street this year on Tuesday, September 17, starting off at the rate of $75 billion daily. It then increased its loans by adding, in addition to the $75 billion daily, 14-day term loans in the amount of $30 billion to be offered three times this past week. Apparently, beer and wine aren’t the only beverages containing surprisingly high levels of glyphosate, a purported carcinogen and one of the most widely used herbicides in the world (it’s the main ingredient in the weed killer Roundup).
