Big Brother is spying on everyone’s ‘rewards card’ purchases

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that Big Brother is tracking your purchases. What should surprise you, is how Big Brother is using ‘rewards card’ purchases to spy on every purchase you make.

Big Brother is spying on everyone’s ‘rewards card’ purchases

Big Brother, or in this case King County, Seattle is spying on everyone’s pet food purchases.

An article in the Seattle Times, warns how Seattle’s Regional Animal Services of King County is spying on resident’s pet food purchases.

King County is paying a mailing company named Lacy & Par to track residents’ purchases via rewards card purchases.

Lacy & Par gave the county a list of prospective pet owners based on their pet food purchases. The county then compared that list it against an internal database of licensed pets owners and sent out warning letters, to suspected violators.

“The following is a reminder notice that King County Code Title 11, Section 04.030 and City Municipal Codes require a King County pet license for all dogs and cats kept, harbored or maintained in your jurisdiction, failure to license could result in fines of up to $250 per pet.”

Direct Mailing companies provide detailed information on “ideal targets”

‘Reward cards’, should really be called ‘personal info cards’.

“DirectMail.com’s in-house Production & Distribution capabilities span the spectrum of fulfillment methods, from enhancing online engagements to producing millions of personalized and compelling direct mail pieces, hand-delivered to your ideal targets.”

What’s wrong with this picture?

How long before you or someone you know becomes an “ideal target”?

Big Brother: Spying on our groceries is profitable

The Seattle Times, warns, spying on citizens is profitable…

“The county says its pet-licensing agency, which has been using direct-mailing lists since 2012, made more than $80,000 in profit from pet-licensing revenue from last year’s letters. Citizen privacy is worth more than $80,000.”

“No one wants Big Brother to watch his or her grocery list or keep track of every visit to a marijuana or liquor store.”

Direct mailing companies have created a national database on everyone

Directmail.com boasts about creating their very own their own national consumer database, called “DirectChoice.”

Think about the implications of using a rewards card, debit card or credit card. Every time you choose not to use cash, you’re giving direct marketers and big brother a treasure trove of personal information.

We envision a world where people have meaningful experiences with the brands and organizations they trust, whether in person or online. One where every digital interaction counts – be it on a website, in an app or through email – because companies will know exactly how to engage with their customers.”

What they’re really saying is, “we envision a world where” they can spy on everyone and sell it to governments and companies.

Stores and restaurants to scan customers’ loyalty cards through purses and wallets

Imagine, giving big brother and corporations the ability to identify anyone the moment they walk through a door by scanning every ‘loyalty card’.

The future of shopping in America, is bleak unless we take back our privacy.

It’s no longer acceptable to sit on the sidelines and say you’ve got nothing to hide. Every purchase you make, everywhere you go and everything you say is being monitored, it’s time to wake up and demand a change!
