Congress Is Sneaking Through Legislation for a No-Fly Zone Over Syria

When Americans aren’t paying attention, sneaky things tend to happen. While we were all distracted by the aftermath of the election, the US Congress decided to get the war ball rolling with Syria.

On November 15, while cities across America were under siege from anti-Trump protesters and rioters, a handful of members of the House of Representatives quietly passed H.R.5732 – the Caesar Syria Civilian Protection Act of 2016. Of course, they’re going to be “protecting” those civilians with a no-fly zone over the country. Consortium News reported:

…the lame-duck Congress convened in special session with normal rules suspended so the House could pass House Resolution 5732, the “Caesar Syria Civilian Protection Act” calling for intensifying the already harsh sanctions on Syria, assessing the imposition of a “no fly zone” inside Syria (to prevent the Syrian government from flying) and escalating efforts to press criminal charges against Syrian officials.

HR5732 claims to promote a negotiated settlement in Syria but, as analyzed by Friends Committee for National Legislation, it imposes preconditions which would actually make a peace agreement more difficult.

The standard rules were suspended, and with little debate, this warmongering act was passed by only a handful of Representatives.  Eliot Engel (D-NY), the sponsor of the bill, explained, “We cannot delay action on Syria any further. … If we don’t get this legislation across the finish line in the next few weeks, we are back to square one.”

(If you want to know what’s actually going on in Syria without the US propaganda clouding the facts, check out this excellent book.)

What that really means is, they didn’t feel like the majority of the House would pass this abysmal piece of legislation and that if they waited until Trump was in office, he would most likely veto it.

I’ve written numerous times that we have no business interfering with a sovereign nation, but for some reason, those in government seem to desperately want a war there. The new legislation will re-ignite tensions with Russia, which appeared to be ebbing when Putin sent forth friendly messages to President-Elect Trump.

Retired US General and author of the book Endgame, Paul Vallely is working with the Trump team. He told RT:

I’ll guarantee there will be no status quo in America after January 20, and that President Trump at that time will be more than willing to work with the Russians to solve the Middle East problems over there. General Flynn and I both realize that nothing is going to be solved in the Middle East until we can work up some kind of relationship and some kind of a strategy with the Russians. It is very important we do that, just like we did with Gorbachev; just like we did with Stalin in WWII to defeat the Nazis. Trump is very open to work with anyone that can come up with solutions that will solve these problems that we see, particularly in the Middle East.

And the Warhawks in Congress can’t have that.

Melissa Dykes of The Daily Sheeple wrote:

The bill is moving at lightning speed as far as the U.S. government is concerned. After quietly passing the House, it has already been read not once but twice in the Senate and it has now been referred to the Committee on Foreign Relations — as if they don’t honestly know what this bill will do to “foreign relations”.

It’s amazing how blatantly disgusting the leadership in this country is that they will keep such a dirty, unconstitutional, offensive war going at any cost.

Since Trump seems a lot less interested in this war, they are desperately trying to push this through before his inauguration. And we thought we only had to worry about the no-fly zone and war with Russia if Hillary Clinton won.
