President Obama gave the commencement address at Ohio State University yesterday, May 5. He took that opportunity to try and get a message across to the new graduates:
Unfortunately, you’ve grown up hearing voices that incessantly warn of government as nothing more than some separate, sinister entity that’s at the root of all our problems. Some of these same voices also do their best to gum up the works. They’ll warn that tyranny always lurking just around the corner. You should reject these voices. Because what they suggest is that our brave, and creative, and unique experiment in self-rule is somehow just a sham with which we can’t be trusted.
Propaganda is not about the truth. It is about deception. It is about weaving a tale of half-truths to persuade the masses to believe that which is beneficial to the powers that be.
Obama and his speech writers must have been studying ”Appendix I: PSYOP Techniques” from “Psychological Operations Field Manual No.33-1″ published by Headquarters; Department of the Army, in Washington DC (source):
1.)Bandwagon and Inevitable Victory. Bandwagon-and-inevitable-victory appeals attempt to persuade the target audience to take a course of action “everyone else is taking.” “Join the crowd.” This technique reinforces people’s natural desire to be on the winning side. This technique is used to convince the audience that a program is an expression of an irresistible mass movement and that it is in their interest to join.
2.) Obtain Disapproval. This technique is used to get the audience to disapprove an action or idea by suggesting the idea is popular with groups hated, feared, or held in contempt by the target audience. Thus, if a group which supports a policy is led to believe that undesirable, subversive, or contemptible people also support it, the members of the group might decide to change their position.
3.) Name Calling or Substitutions of Names or Moral Labels. This technique attempts to arouse prejudices in an audience by labeling the object of the propaganda campaign as something the target audience fears, hates, loathes, or finds undesirable.
4.) Pinpointing the Enemy: This is a form of simplification in which a complex situation is reduced to the point where the “enemy” is unequivocally identified.
5.) Social Disapproval. This is a technique by which the propagandist marshals group acceptance and suggests that attitudes or actions contrary to the one outlined will result in social rejection, disapproval, or outright ostracism.
This blatant attempt to brainwash the leaders of tomorrow into believing that the administration is benevolent and that those who disagree are not to be listened to is actually the most positive thing that I have heard for the side of liberty in quite some time. If everyone was already convinced of the good intentions of the administration, they wouldn’t need to put forth such effort to persuade people of that.
This speech tells me that Obama and his ilk are afraid.
They are afraid that the people are beginning to awaken to their transparent attempts to enforce a totalitarian state.
They are afraid that those who tell the truth are beginning to get the message through.
The powers that be are taking the pulpit to try and lull them back to sleep.
This is a sign that we can’t stop spreading the word. We, the people who believe in freedom, are the ones that need to heed one small part of Obama’s speech. We need to resist the urge to be cynical, so that we can patiently continue spreading our message of resistance against tyranny.
We are making progress, enough progress that the tyrants are trying to perform damage control.

Good article!
This is exactly what I saw, and heard, but couldn’t explain what I saw to others, when he was campaigning for his first term as president. It’s exactly why I didn’t vote for him his first, or his second, term. I saw, and still see, a very dangerous man in just his words alone. He doesn’t act alone but is the mouthpiece for all the “others” who pull his strings. He is the paid scapegoat … the mask for “them” … or “they” as we always like to say.
. . .
Unfortunately, his republican opposition in both elections have/had the same exact agenda and handlers that he does.
It is the false dichotomy that we are expected to participate in that is the real danger, not just Obama and his ideology.
Yep.
I agree. Two wings of the same bird.

Something to consider; Who has the authority to allow the National Guard to be armed w/ live rifle rounds during a student protest? The Governor…
