BURNS, Ore. – The FBI arrested three more people Wednesday in connection with the armed occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, including the self-proclaimed new leader of the group.
The FBI and Oregon State Police set up a series of checkpoints at major roads in and out of the refuge Wednesday morning.
Eight people left the refuge through the checkpoints, the FBI said. Of those eight people, five were released and three were arrested.
The three men arrested face one federal felony count of conspiracy to impede officers of the United States from discharging their official duties through the use of force, intimidation, or threats.
The FBI said they were in contact with the three men and each of them chose turn themselves in at one of the checkpoints. This comes after Ammon Bundy, the group’s original leader, issued a statement through his attorney telling those who remain at the refuge to go home.
Duane Leo Ehmer, 45, of Irrigon, Oregon; and Dylan Wade Anderson 34, of Provo, Utah; were arrested at about 3:30 p.m., according to the FBI.
Jason S. Patrick, 43, of Bonaire, Georgia; who claimed to be the new leader of the group, was arrested at about 7:40 p.m., the FBI said.
The arrests come a day after eight armed protesters, including Bundy, were taken into custody during a traffic stop that ended in shots fired. One armed protester, LaVoy Finicum, was killed during the confrontation.
The armed takeover was in its 24th day when Bundy was arrested. Leaders said they would not leave the refuge until the government released two ranchers from prison and turned federal land over to local authorities.

Well gee, if they release the ranchers what is to stop them from arresting them again LATER? Oh and the LOCALS turned the land over to the fed in the first place by doing nothing. So tell me oh great and high mighty geniuses that if they do hand the land over to “local authorities” also known as GOVERNMENT (in this case MASONS) tell me what will stop them from just turning around and oh say… Handing it RIGHT back over to the fed for more handouts to the local lodge?
I would say the cylinders are not firing here but I think we have a chronic case of the motor is missing from the car.
Edit: Here is some more, this soap opera is getting so bad it is sounding now like one of those bad TV drama’s (MSM “news”) where “terrorist group X” demands release of Y and Z leaders while also demanding free land for the creation of “The Peoples Liberation Republic of D.”
This is so laughable it is sickening, a hunk of the group along with THE ENTIRE LEADERSHIP (when the HELL has that ever happened?) was ambushed and arrested along the road, the MASONS and INFORMANTS are now safe… Meanwhile, if we believe everything here… More of these “militia” just ran like hell leaving their equipment and guns behind… Now we have a tiny group without any teeth left making demands that they will not leave a meaningless building in the middle of nowhere unless they are given the moon. What the hell makes them think they have the ability to “negotiate?” Or is this all going just as the masons and communists planned?
