  1. ” One mortgage payment would be more than one of my paychecks”.

There’s simply no financial model as for what you can afford that doesn’t take at least 28% of your gross income. Sorry, hoping for a mortgage payment of 25% of your net income is not realistic from the start.

If you’re single go live in a trailer park and save all your money, that’s what I did. Except that I was a single, full time, Father with an infant. I saved enough for a 10% deposit on a run down 20×24 cottage in an extremely affluent area (location, location) so that my kid could get a better than average education. I rebuilt the cottage and added $850,000 to it’s value through sweat equity.

Then 2008 came along and I figured out what a scam mortgages and banks are. Seriously, what are the odds that your not going to experience some sort of financial/medical/economic difficulty over a 30 year span? The banks know this ! You’ll have better odds in Vegas.

Eventually I defaulted and was in foreclosure. I fought those bastards for 15 years ! I stayed in my house the whole time, not paying mortgage, taxes or insurance. I was named in no less than 6 lawsuits as a victim of mortgage fraud. I sued BOA and 2 mortgage companies on my own. Of course “too big to fail”…

During this time I saved all my money and I bought 2 houses, cash (not in my name) and inherited a third, via covid murder. Then I walked away from the original house and almost a million dollars in debt. I never won a court case but the bank lost at least 250k fighting me.

Now I live debt free and 2 weeks of work pays my taxes and insurance on all 3 houses for the year. They aren’t all awesome houses they need remolding at least which I’ll do myself without loans. Then sell them off to fund my retirement.

Sorry that in your late 20’s you can’t afford a house, maybe spend less on hair dye and tattoos?

Not saying that times aren’t tough, I’ve had to relocate and I just started a new business but things are headed in the right direction.

Snap! You aren’t the only one that noticed that in several videos now 😉 Another lady in another video about the same subject was the same – piercings & tattoos everywhere. I may just be a cynical pr*ck these days but I think that’s just a natural by-product of going through life with your eyes wide open, your brain engaged & the senses that count intact (supposedly!). I’m obviously not against tattoos per se as we all have the freedom to do whatever we want to our bodies but when I see people covered in tats complaining about their financial situation I find it hard to have proper sympathy for them, especially the older ones with obvious recent work on their skin, and I’m just downright suspicious of probably most of them that post stuff on social media tbh. Having said that I do really feel for the genuinely struggling younguns who want to make their own way in this current fu*ked up world we all need to deal with.

      1. My father was a biker, head to toe tats. One of his (special) brothers had none, I asked him why? He said “no identifying marks”.

Fake tattoos come off quick so if you want to be described as a person with tattoos…

I like a girl with one tattoo, that shows me she had $65 once.
