PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL – Police in Panama City, Florida said the man who was involved in a shootout with officers Tuesday is dead.
The man is identified as 49-year-old Kevin Robert Holroyd. He’s also connected to a deadly shooting in Walton County.
Investigators said Holroyd killed 30-year-old Clinton Street around 9 a.m. Tuesday at a home on White Heron Drive in Santa Rosa Beach. After that shooting, Holroyd went to his apartment in Panama City where he barricaded himself inside and soaked the unit with gasoline.
When Panama City Police arrived at the apartment, Holroyd fired several shots at the officers. The officers returned fire and witnesses in the area reported hearing several dozen shots. One injury was reported. Investigators said a woman at the scene was grazed by a bullet.
The Bay County Sheriff’s Office said a bomb squad attempted to enter the apartment but the front door was barricaded from inside. About two hours later, deputies used an armored vehicle to make their way inside the apartment where they found Holroyd dead.
The sheriff’s office said the Florida Department of Law Enforcement will investigate Holroyd’s death.
