Learn exactly what “glass bedding” and free floating means, what the process seeks to do, and how it can help you to realize the full potential of your gun’s accuracy. This is Part I of two instructional videos that will bring you through the actual process of bedding a brand new Tikka T3 Hunter with walnut stock, using Devcon Industrial Plastic Steel epoxy.
Here is part 3

I AGREE WITH A COUPLE OF POINTS. MAINLY, THAT YOU WANT THAT BARREL TO ACT LIKE AN UNOBSTRUCTED TUNING FORK…..AND
WHEN “FREE FLOATING”, ANYTHING .243 AND UNDER, THE WIDTH OF A DOLLAR BILL IS PLENTY OF ROOM. SAVE THE “SANDED COMPLETELY AWAY” LOOK (1/16TH) FOR 25/06 AND UPWARDS…….
I HAVE NEVER TRIED DEVCON EPOXY FOR GLASSING A RIFLE, BUT I KNOW IT WOULD WORK FROM MY EXPERIENCES AS A MODEL BUILDER.. I ALWAYS USED ACRA GLASS. THE STEPS ARE THE SAME. THE GOAL IS THE SAME. “THIS BULLET THROUGH THE LAST BULLET HOLE”.
THANKS FOR POSTING MARK.
i dont bed any of my long range liberty tools( only the action)
my experience living in a very wet and cold environment i have leaned that a free floating barrel from a bedded action is my best bet
my reasoning and maybe no one elses ..is, if the barrel is bedded and the wood stock picks up any moisture , the wood may swell and cause your sight in, to be off ..even a little bit adds up when your shooting out passed 300 to 600 Yds, or more
oh and i almost forgot to add , bedding a semi auto may not be a good idea either ..a semi auto large caliber rifle and shooting it enough in succession develops heat , that bedded barrel wont dissipate that heat as fast as non bedded , and the bedding and heat from firing can also throw your MOA off
my first advice is .. that you should take the rifle out and shoot it…if it is already accurate, then there is no sense in messing with it, one way or the other.
“BEDDING” A BARRELL IS A NO NO MY MAN. THAT STICK OF STEEL, IS TO TOUCH N O T H I N G DURING OPERATION.
I DIDNT WATCH THE WHOLE VIDEO, BUT I WAS SURE THAT HE SAID “FREE FLOATING” THE BARREL, AND “BEDDING” THE ACTION.
I WATCHED ENOUGH TO KNOW HE WASNT LYING.
I watched the video. He is only talking about bedding a small spot at the nut and barrel stop and a small square spot where the back screw goes in.
When you hear him explain the whole thing, it makes good sense, as he talks about such things as the vibration of the barrel.
Anyway, I think the guy knows what he is talking about.
I’m going to try it on one of my rifles, but I am going to have to use something cheaper than $55 epoxy putty.
My nephew is getting ready to load me up some match ballistic tips. If I can get it all done before the snow gets too deep, I will let everyone know how it turns out.
THE BEST WOOD STOCK FINISH MADE;

DEVCON PUTTY IS ABOUT A THIRD OF THE COST OF “ACRAGLASS”.
IF YOUR NEPHEW IS MAKING MATCH AMMO, JUST A SUGGESTION;
CHECK FOR WEIGHT VARIATIONS EVERY TEN ROUNDS OR SO. I’VE HAD PROBLEMS IN THE PAST WITH EVERY MATCH BULLET EXCEPT HORNADY…….
IT DOESNT TAKE MUCH TO CHANGE A POINT OF IMPACT AT 500 YARDS…….
Green Mountain barrels.
Top notch.
The guy is a damn good shot.
